I was just thinking it's Edmonton. Even if he has to take a bit less as a UFA it isn't Edmonton.

Is Larsson actually good or are you guys falling for the Sportsnet media hype? He had 10 points and was +2

No, he's not that good. I just thought Larsson would have shot for longer term. Even on a 4-year term, this deal will not be good value for Edmonton...I just wish it was a little longer.

Good deal for Edmonton. Might be one way to cope with the loss of Hall lol. Larsson could’ve easily fetched more, so he really did them a solid.

IDK, his numbers are nothing special...Tanev is a way better player IMO and people were saying the Flames overpaid and they took him from another team

Seems like a good deal for Edmonton. Surely Larsson could have fetched more on the open market as four years is pretty average term these days for a player his age.

How generous of Adam after they went and nuked that bunch of that cap space on a fossil.
Still don't think he's even worth that, but name recognition and being the return in an awful 1 for trade for Hall naturally boosts the perception of his value by the locals.
This doesn't erase or make up for the idiocy so far though.

Did this actually happen, or is the only evidence of it a tweet from Mark Spector, bastion of insider knowledge?

They had to protect Keith, so I assume they're just leaving Larsson as a UFA until after the draft and they'll make it official then so they don't lose him

I'd take him on the Flames for that contract. Good value for a decent defenseman.

Agreed....i loathe that rat-pit of a franchise as much as anyone, but they do have some good pieces. Larsson is one of those steady-eddie types that every team needs. At that price and term he is a no-brainer, regardless of his acquisition cost.

I dont know really. Larsson hasnt done much to be impressive, and while that contract is far from horrible, is he really much of an upgrade? On anyone?
Oft injured, not entirely reliable, he is a more-or-less steady defenceman who might be a good player if he wasnt your #1 or top-pairing guy, but then he wouldnt earn that much money either.
Larsson to me is a whole bunch of 'meh.'

He's a decent defenceman that has fallen into the oiler underachiever trap that so many players have fallen prey to. I hope Seattle snags him and offers him 4Mx5. The greaser defence sucks as is, without Larsson they'll be running multiple rookies unless they massively overpay in UFA, win win.

If he signs the day after the expansion draft the league should look into circumvention. Dunno if its true coming from the doofus brigade but a few edmonton media sources on twitter saying that they are holding off on signing the deal on purpose just to hide him from expansion draft.

If either of those two resigns, it's going to be Larsson. And absolutely no one is knocking down any doors to pick up Kassian, let alone offer anything of value for his services.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with this, as the contract is not official until signed and sent to the league. Their are a number of UFA’s basically doing the same thing. Either side could back out at this stage.
