It’s funny - I’m leery of a really high pick used for a goalie, but a mid round doesn’t bother me as much. That said, just because a guy is the best goalie in his draft year doesn’t make him an automatic pick. It depends on the year.

Wallstedt, big swedish goalie. Hmmm, if only we had a guy like that who could mentor/back up near the end of his contract.

Wallstedt is probably 4-5 years out from being a true impact goalie, which would line up perfectly with Markstroms contract. I still voted for the forwards in both polls but if Wallstedt is there and we end up going with him, I won't even be a little disappointed. Wolf looks great, but like everyone is saying, goalies are such a gamble. If both turn out to be studs it would give us some great assets to move down the line

Only reason, im guessing, is that most think McTavish wont be an option...i know thats why i have gone with Corrato twice.

Shall I go on?
Shall I do it with forwards and D? Or can we just agree that the draft is mostly a crap shoot.

If probable Top 10 pick Wallstedt in there, Kent Johnson should be an option...slight chance he drops (but doubt it)

My bold prediction for the draft is that Johnson actually gets selected ahead of Berniers.

I’ve wondered for a while if Berniers was only rated as high as he is because he’s a forward among all the D in the upper ranks. But now some other forwards are climbing and he’s been dropping in some.

Aatu Raty because I like his name. Average skater, average shot, average effort defensively? Roll the dice I say.

Chaz again. I come across posts saying his skating is terrible but honestly I think he's a much better skater than Tkachuk.

Especially since his post injury videos show some hesitancy to use too much Edgeworth and he still managed to get around just fine. Some more time to workout the legs and regain confidence in them is all is needed. I can't see how people don't covet his offense. It's still top tier despite the IMO, minor skating concerns.

^ this is what FCHockey says about Chaz on skates:
Quote:
Lucius owns some great
edges, allowing him to change directions on a dime. He
can change his attack angles and keep up with opponents
with relative ease with how mobile he is. His quick feet
and good crossovers also allow him to get up to speed
quickly and create time and space for himself
Quote:
Lucius’ area of concern
is lack of power in his stride. While he’s quick enough
to keep up with his linemates and is comfortable making
plays at speed, Lucius hasn’t taken a noticeable step forward
with his first-step explosiveness. This may be due to
a lower-body injury. “A knee injury derailed the first half of
his season,” an FCHockey scout said. “This affected his
skating at first, but his elite shot, puck skills, and offensive
instincts allowed him to step in without missing a beat and
scored at a goal-per-game rate the rest of the way.”

Rosen is a ridiculously explosive skater with a heavy shot. I know he’s a bit slim, but I think he brings a dynamic element that our forwards lack beyond #13.
