I feel like he could still play 1st line RW for the flames today. Can’t believe he’s 44
There has never been a season that I have not wanted him back… never wanted to see him leave but cheered for him to win it all anywhere he went cause no player in history has ever deserved to win a cup more than him yet be denied it (side note: it was in). The irony is that - ever since he left - the flames have desperately needed everything he provided… a right-handed scoring winger with size, grit and leadership.

Shoulda brought Iggy back instead of Jagr.

It annoyed me how common the talk of “he isn’t going to accept 3rd line minutes” was when people discussed him coming back. Since then, we’ve seen countless greats join bottom 6 roles on teams to keep playing and to try and win.
I think prime Malkin was definitely in that category too.
Good point. And big reason for their success
You see high end players than can handle being leaned on. MacKinnon is one. McDavid plays almost as soft as Johnny, though has speed to give him space to do things
But rarely do you see players than can be a rock around the net in high traffic locations and take a beating fearlessly while still able to make high end skill plays in a fraction of a second to put a puck in.
A number of the goals Jarome scored took equal parts foresight, skill, and willpower to create. Just such an impressive game & style he played.

I think Rantenen has an underrated edge to him too.
I wonder if Jarome Iginla wouldn't be a multi cup winner if he had played on another team. Yeah there was 2004 but still.
Also if the Flames organization has learned anything as in recognizing you have a Hall of Famer and one of the best ever to play the game and to surround him with better players.
Not taking anything away from the guys we had here but I would think there was a shortcoming in that area.
