started with a sore throat, i thought it was just cause i had the heat on too high, and it caused the air to be dry. then i started getting coughs and pains in my chest when i would breathe. i started getting fatigue over anything and everything, i had very short breaths and i was coughing excessively. i just got back from an.. XRAY that my doctor suggest I get to check out my lungs...this isn't good i'm kinda scared!

I had one a couple of years ago; same time as the SARS outbreak. (I was worried it was that. What it turned out that they were looking for (and found) was if the problem is with the lungs, or if it was pleurisy. It turned out to be the latter, and after some antibiotics I was fine.

Yes, there are some funky illnesses out there; but there are even funkier medications too.

thanks for some clarification Ken, I am awaiting for the xrays to reach my doctor and wait for some results.

I have a question for you guys, its already set in my head and all, i've tlaked to my parents too..

but, say you are young and planning on hitting school soon. the work place you are at now treat you nice, have some nice benifits but its coming at a price of - low wage (not what i would want to be paid for what I do) and harsh conditions COLD and dusty. especially since I have asthma, I am already planinng on leaving, but do you guys think health is worth making a few dollars over?

The first thing they asked me when I had my lung problems was a few questions regarding my past work conditions and any particles that may have been in the air. (Fiberglass, drywall dust, saw dust, asbestos, etc.)

Risking your health would only be worth it to me for a lot of money. Let's say you are 24 years old, and are looking at making $15 per hour. Sounds like OK money. But if it impacts your ability to make $30 per hour from age 30 to 65, is it worth those extra few dollars?

What is your value on not having to wake up every half hour hacking up a lung?
