News alternative to Twitter?

I love Twitter as a source for the latest news and sports updates. I agree that for certain topics the replies are ridiculous and toxic. This doesn't bother me though and I don't understand how it would lead one to delete the app altogether? Perhaps because I don't participate or get consumed reading through stupid replies. I get my news and if replies are gross, I move on and get on with life.

Facebook. Follow whichever news sources wou wish and you get all the news they report
