Just fulfilling their ongoing individual transfer agreement of players and personnel to the KHL.

That's a solid defensive player. No hands at all though.
On a team that has more scoring depth, maybe his complete lack of production can be forgiven. But the NHL is a 4 line game right now and your bottom 6 generally speaking needs to chip in. Just looking at say the Toronto - Montreal series, the bottom 6 shined for the Leafs and it was the main reason they managed to win 3 games. Kerfoot, Spezza, Galchenyuk put up 6, 5 and 4 points respectively in the series while their star forwards struggled immensely.

Same thing for Montreal, Paul Byron scored the game winning goal in game 1 and assisted on the game winning goal in game 6. Perry came up big and Armia chipped in with a couple. That’s the difference depth can make.

On other hand, had the Flamea actually managed to make it in the playoffs this season and if our stars struggled like the Leafs’ stars did, we basically would’ve been swept because our depth scoring was so incredibly weak this year.

I liked him. Once you get passed the fact that he has no hands, you start to like him. Very good defensively, and very good consistent effort on every shift. I like players that you know never cheat on effort, and are never the reason why you lose a game. Calgary has a difficult time playing an uptempo fast game, and I think he was kind of a bright spot there.

With that being said, I am also kind of relieved that he is gone. This team needs better scoring from the bottom 6. I thought he was an asset for the PK and line-shutdown duties, but you also need them to score and help you win games, not just help you not lose them.

I wish him the best in the KHL.

When the Flames signed Nordstrom, Leivo and Simon last year, I was least excited about Nordstrom.

He ended up contributing the most to the team this year out of 3 and even then he didn't contributed much besides some PK and decent defensive play.

Low risk low reward signings I guess but they sure all were low low low reward signings.

Hopefully the Flames decide to go the young prospect root this year or have more luck with these types of signings this off season.

You're right, Stockton would be a better fit. Maybe he realized he shouldn't be in the NHL.

I assume he was informed by the Flames that he wouldn't be resigned and he made this decision based on that. Seems like a fair way to treat a player no longer in your plans

One of the worst ever seems like a reach. Your memory must be failing. Intentional selective team roster forgetfulness is also an acceptable excuse.

Forever a Flame.

Just another in a long list of players who come to Calgary to kill off whats left of their NHL career.

I am relieved. I'll take this as an indication that they understand that they need to improve the offensive output of the team and they are intending to do something about it. They have some young players who can fill that spot and grow.

Best of luck to him.

This is a perfect example of the attitude I expect Oilers fans to have...This, or the belief that they have a contender with just a few players.

It's kind of crazy how many non-NHLers we tried to fit into the NHL roster this year

Not even one of the worst in the past decade. This team loves their 4th line plugs.

Honestly ... what team doesn't?

I know it's fun to rage on the Flames these days, but lets pick actual targets.

In a cap system players like this get cycled around the league. Every team is doing it.

Hell Pittsburgh added Jankowski for example.

Here's a list of players signed for this season making under $1M ... it's huge. 138 players and not a lot of them moving the needle.
