We hold the 13th best odds now (keep in mind Arizona has the 11th best odds but will trigger a redraw if selected).

So our 1st rounder is likely to be:
1st pick: 2.0%
2nd pick: 2.2%
12th pick: 89.7% (if both lottery wins are from the first 11 teams)
13th pick: 6.1% (if one lottery is won by PHI, DAL, or NYR)
14th pick: 0.1% (if both lotteries are won by PHI, DAL, or NYR)
What about the 3rd pick?

I swear to all that's holy if Dallas, Philly or NYR win the lottery I will snap.

Not only will it push us down a spot, but they've all won recently.

As a Flames fan, I recommend you prepare for that scenario.

Absolutely.

Pay for the known entities. Why go back to the mystery box that could be a Rieder when you could just have a Rieder.

Hathaway and Lomberg are other examples.

Identify the talent you need to retain and don't piss it away just to save 300k on a worse player.

How the Flames ever let Hathaway go is mind-bottling. Can someone remind me?

Didn't want to pay him that 4th year at 1.5 million bucks. From what I recall it sounded like 3 years would have been fine with management though. Hathaway was only 27 at the time.

Sadly I think its when you over pay for Lucic and Ryan on the bottom end of the roster, that is directly the reason why.

Even though that was a shinny game out there, it was fun to watch. I thought the young guys looked great. Was hoping to see all of them score their firsts. Mackey got his, Phillips should have had his, and I thought Ruzicka was going to cash in on that one timer late in the PP right before he took the penalty. All in all they acquitted themselves quite well. Will look forward to seeing them push for positions in camp.

Read somewhere that he wanted to play in the US with a preference for the East Coast.

As read on twitter

Matthew Tkachuk just set the all time NHL record for most regular season goals scored after the playoffs had begun.

That is so brutal. So Flames.

It's true, how many good players were pushed out, or couldn't be acquired because of those Brouwer and Neal contracts?

He was a UFA 4th liner who got offered a four year, 1.5M deal hot off a season with a spike in shooting percentage.

I like Hathaway but the chances of him scoring even 10 goals or 20 points for the Flames was not that high, especially after Mangiapane got promoted up the lineup.

You gotta save some money at the bottom of your roster.

Since they won the cup in 1989 they have won 4 playoff rounds.

The Golden Knights have won 5 rounds since 1989 and they didn't even exist before 2017.

If the Flames could make their entire roster free agents, and then do an expansion draft from the rest of the league, I feel we'd come out ahead.
