But if you're going to call out players out in public and use stats then at least get them right.
Boeser played 18 minutes, 10 shots on goal and had 2 penalties.
Dube played 13 minutes, 4 shots on goal and 1 penalty.
Backlund played 19 minutes, 4 shots on goal and 1 penalty.
So nitpick the young guy and ignore the vet on that line that was probably out there for all of Boesers 10 shots.
This will be a good thread to bump in 2 years time. Sutter's contract will be ending and Dube will no longer be a young kid. He would've either made the Flames or moved to another team or out of the league. Let's see what happens.

But Dube plays directly against Boeser. That is his man and he let him get 10 shots

Dube played 13 minutes. Boeser played 18 minutes. There is 5 minutes of someone else playing Boeser. Thats nearly 1/3 of Boesers time, Dube wasn't even on the ice.

Not to mention that the guy you line up against on a faceoff isn’t necessarily “your man” in your own zone.
Sutter was loose with his facts, at a minimum.

Dube and Valimaki can be real thoroughbreds on this team. At least one, potentially two more levels there. Darryl knows it and he knows they need to get there if things are going to turn around.

Can somebody give Darryl the memo that he needs to be 100% accurate, down to the nanosecond when he compares his player vs what an opposition did?
Do we really need to be that nitpicky?

Maybe this is what Bennett needed in Year 1&2 as opposed to having thr pressure of being the highest drafted player in franchise history and a useless coach with one liners and a thought process like "team is mentally weak", "it's between the ears", "players getting motivated is not my job" mentality.
These guys will either take this as motivation and it fires them up. This makes them mentally strong in a "no one can bring me down" mentality... or this will make them crumble in the corner...which exposes them early for what they are...

Well, TBF, “he took two penalties” when Dube took one and Boeser took two is kind of egregious.

You have to be careful with calling players out in public. Per previous comments it can light a fire. Or it can cause the player to lose call of their confidence.
I’d put Dube in the fire category. Worried about Valimaki losing his confidence.

I'm not worried about Dube, I think it was Francis who recently mentioned that Dube said being coached by Sutter will be good for his game. He welcomes that challenge.
Valimaki on the other hand... I'm not sure if Darryl's message will get through to him. Seemed really dopey in the one of the pre-game interviews he did in Vancouver.

Well they both found the scoresheet with some nice plays in the first
Can tell Valimaki is playing with low confidence right now though

Yeah, but pretending we know how he is feeling, or what the long-term effect will be on a 21-year-old kid whom none of us has ever even exchanged words with is a fool's errand.

This is the type of hard coaching those two players need. There's expectations for both of them, and it'll really do good for both the players themselves and the Flames if their potential can be fully utilized. So to motivate them to not be complacent, and work hard at improving this offseason and into next season is not even just a good thing, it's necessary.

Wow! That's harsh - but tell it as it is! I wonder what Sutter would have said about Bennett if he was still here as a Flames. LOL The word "entitlement" is really damning! I'd be embarrassed if I was those players. But you have to have thick skin in order to succeed.

It’s an Internet message board. Nitpicky is a requirement unfortunately.
