I am going with: "Markstrom wanted one more game to beat his former team". I am ok with that.
Now rest him up.
Given who the Flames dressed, it would have been a bit embarrassing to lose. Once the lineup was made, only a fluke would get them the L.
Let's see what the lineup is for next game.

Another reason I despise the NHL point system: we now have the same amount of wins as Montreal in 3 fewer games yet are 8 points back of them.
Absolutely ridiculous. Straight wins and losses. Lose in OT or a SO? Too bad. It’s the same for everyone.

11th overall now and Van would have to win out to knock us down a spot.
That includes Seattle.
Can still catch Arizona (3 points ahead) and Chicago (4 point ahead) to lower our draft position even more.

3 points for a regulation win, 2 for a win in OT and 1 for a loss in OT would fix that too. Plus teams would play harder to win in regulation.

Personally I think it should just be 3 on 3 until someone scores. I doubt it would ever last much longer than 10 minutes.

The Flames will likely finish with more wins and less losses then the Habs and miss the playoffs. How ass-backwards is that? What a useless league sometimes. Should probably go fine more teams for calling out their ineptitude.
