So Taylor hall at 17 points -19 should be about the same? All of Buffalo's roster is hot garbage this year. Let's see if it's a Buffalo thing or the players just suck.

Everyone thinks this is such a great move for the Habs but they aren't winning the cup so in the end it's going to be giving away picks

Montreal is not only better then us in the standings, but they’re also better then us at rebuilding too. What a double whammy. The Flames are in the worst possible position out of all Canadian teams. Quebec City might even win a Cup before we do. This franchise loves being stuck in the middle.

Can you tell me who wins so I can make a sure bet? I don’t have this ability.

And every other team except 1 will not win either. I bet HAB fans are happier now than they were before - it will make the rest of the season potentially more exciting for them if he contributes.

Taylor is 8 years younger.... Far from over the hill.

Two different players at different points in their career. Taylor hasn't been great either this year but he is far better than Staal....

Its a move to try and secure that last playoff spot. They take out the leafs or oilers its a win regardless.

The habs don't have to win the cup to make this "worth it". If Staal helps them not only make the playoffs but maybe win a round or two, the deal was more than worth it. They need some kind of success there, they'll make extra playoff money and the team gains some experience.

Yikes. The Flames are definitely in your head.

What’s the point of ever paying the price for a player with that kind of mentality?

I take your point relative to the Flames, but the Habs are in a very different place. Weber and Price ages and they'll never be in an easier division.

Compete with: TBL, BOS, FLA, TOR?

or

TOR, WPG, EDM, CGY?

This is a good year to go for it. And they literally have too many picks (14 total, 12 in the first 5 rounds). It's a good year to have those darts, but you only have so much room for prospects/contracts in a given year.

Everyone realizes this is current Eric Staal and not 10 years ago Staal right. He’s not much of an upgrade for them really. If at all. We’ll see I guess

At this point it’s questionable if Staal is an upgrade on Corey Perry. And the Habs already have a Corey Perry.

Bergevin is getting desperate.

If Staal from last year shows up they are fine. Heck Staal from the Wild shows up would work. Just a good depth add for the bottom 6.

He's getting older and has had a bad year in BUF but he scored 111 goals & 240 points in the previous 4 years in MIN. There is probably still enough gas in the tank to be an effective depth player.
