My ship is expected in Vancouver April 11...if it did go through the Suez maybe it's already through.

I recently discovered you can track ships online like how you can track flights. You should be able to find yours.
Congrats on buying a ship!

I find this totally mind bottling.
I mean at some point in your life you must have seen a map or globe, no?

Yeah, sometimes I have the ship name on these shipments, but this one I don't have it. It is cool when you look at them on the water, though.

Yeah, I have no idea where Shanghai is relative to Vancouver. I've looked at a globe but I didn't freaking memorize it.

Pretty sure it's going to go the 9,000Km route and not the 45,000 km route

So I'm taking it Shanghai is on the right side of China? Boom, that's news to me. I do know Vancouver is on the left side of Canada. So just the Pacific separates them? Boom, more new news.

Lol... Shanghai to Vancouver via the Suez would pretty much be the longest possible way to take that shipment. You'd also have to go through the Panama Canal.
Silver, you're not a dumbass. Shanghai is in China, which is directly across the pacific ocean from Vancouver. I take back my first statement in this paragraph if that still doesn't clarify things for you.

China doesn't have ocean on it's "left" side.

So do you not know where China is, or do you not know where Vancouver is?

It wouldnt matter if it were on the far "left" side of China... Seriously, go look at a map.
I'm honestly confused, do you think China wraps around the earth and touches the atlantic ocean?

Had I known that I wouldn't have asked the question. Didn't realize I was chatting with a bunch of geographers.

Got this from another forum:
https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=98...6OPOwzpVoLKUew
That's a link to the ship in question, you can zoom out and see the other ships in the area all backed up.

The first time my mother discovered that the UK was an island was when I went there and I had mentioned travelling to France from there.
The first time she found out Manhattan was an island was when I took her there and she asked why we were going under such a large tunnel from New Jersey.
She was in her 50s at that point. Not knowing a shipping route pales in comparison.
