Meh. Saturday should tell us a lot about sutter's impact on this group.

The oilers embarrassing the flames so much this season seems to bother me more than it does the flames. It sucks...

Let's see if the coach makes the difference. If they can't turn around from this fast then yes it always players and team.

Keep them on the ice and give them a real bag skate regardless of going to Toronto tomorrow.

And tell Tkachuk every time he tries to do the in-between the legs play he's getting bag skated. It's getting old now and isn't effective anymore.

Could have used a save but they are all point blank shots except maybe Kassian who had a break but not a great angle and he sucks.

Turnovers and dumb penalties are the story IMO

Plus, Mangiapane was in the box when the Oilers scored a PPG, so that line was on the ice or responsible for 5 of 7 goals tonight.

Just handled the puck like a grenade tonight and some brutal giveaways. Just wasn't our night.

I'm beginning to think the Oilers might actually be the better team this year

Fellow CPers have talked me off the ledge. Interesting to see how they respond after an embarrassing outcome.
So, if markstrom needs a rest what is domingue like? I just don’t have that much faith in Rittich.

Woof. First three goals weren’t Markstrom’s fault. The wheels fell off after the fourth one though (which was definitely stoppable).

They looked good in the second, and pushed back even after the 3-0 goal. Those two late goals were also created by good pressure in the o-zone, but score effects were at play as well.

I don't understand a multimillion dollar organization with an analytics team couldn't project the team being garbage. We've been trending downwards for some time now, if goalies didn't play God a few games this season, were sitting with Ottawa at the lower spectrum. I already hate losing to the Oilers, but in the fashion we've been losing to them this season is unforgivable and unacceptable.

I keep seeing the comment about the penalties and discipline but Gio and Mangy’s were both horrible calls. Bennett’s was to negate a scoring chance so I wouldn’t call it dumb. Missed the first one tho

They’ve been the better team for a while now outside of 2019.

That was a lot of mistakes to make in one game, yikes.

Onward. The target with Toronto has got to be 3/4 points.

Losses, even blowouts, happen to all teams. I didn’t like that there were a lot of old habits though - the slower start, the lack of pushing the pace, bad puck management, crumbling when down.

Counting the good Flames - one hand. Tanev, as always. Hanifin. Dube. Lucic except for the bad giveaway to start it all. I thought Mangiapane wasn’t as good as he’s been lately, Kylington had it rough, Ritchie was not effective. Backlund wasn’t good. Johnny and Monahan weren’t as bad as some claimed all game, but they didn’t get it done. Tkachuk was bad even with 2 points.
