I thought that he was a decent coach in greaserville but no doubt he will be a football executive in the English premier league again soon.

yesterday on the fan the boys were talking about the sabers and apparently even if they doubled their goal output they would still be below .500 and they have been bad to terrible since PEgula has been on the scene.

Gotta hand it to those Sabers fans that stay committed with season tickets

Dunno if you misheard or misremembered or the source was wrong, but that's not true. They'd be +23 in goal differential and probably winning their division. If they had twice as many wins they'd be exactly .500 if all the wins came instead of regulation losses. If they started by converting the OTLs to wins they'd still be sub-.500.

Wait a second...Steve Smith was an assistant coach in Buffalo? Well there's your problem right there!

Kruger also coached a mongrelised "Team Europe" to an improbable appearance in the World Cup of Hockey championship series in 2016.

Time for DS to retire from Calgary with a 100% record, and off to the next underperformer

That's kind of a myth as he had great special teams in Edmonton but the team was horrible 5 on 5.

This Sabres team is bad (25th in xGF%) but there is a lot of bad luck here too.

31st in shooting percentage, and 28th in save percentage...ouch.

I know the idea here is they are going to wait until the offseason but honestly I'd bring in the new coach ASAP.

Give him some time to work with the guys to see who is part of the solution vs needs to be shipped out.

I'm thinking this was Kruger last stop in the NHL as HC. Sure, the likes of a Bednar suffered worse years and kept their jobs , but Kruger hasn't really done anything with all the firepower he has coached.

Interesting, he was one of the reasons Hall chose to go there. Wonder if Hall will stay there to help the Sabres win the draft lottery.

Those first few media guys were gross, though it's interesting to see the polar opposite to the EDM circle jerk, where they probably asked him questions like: "Mr. Kruger, your team seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?"

It was still by far their best season of the 10 year stretch from '07-'16...

Hall is probably more concerned with the massive amount of dental reconstruction he’s going to need today. I was sure Hall made a good choice to go to Buffalo. They’re team is pretty good on paper. They should bring back Lindy Ruff!

It was slightly misquoted, but I read the same thing. If every Sabres goal counted as 2 goals, they would still have gone 4-8-0 in the last 12 games.

I always thought it was a pretty soundly calculated move: contending teams where Hall obviously wanted to play could not afford to pay him what he was asking with term. I always viewed this one year deal as an opportunity for him to get on with a top team at the TD, and then to test free agency again in 2021.

Steve Smith will be OK. He'll bounce a few ideas off Grant Fuhr and go from there.
