I could be totally wrong about this because I have never really watched wrestling, but don't (some) guys watch wrestling because of the half naked chicks that are generally found ring side or hanging off the arm of one of these wrestlers? I saw a couple seconds of some kind of wrestling match on The Score, I have no idea what league it was, but they stopped the match to have some kind of bikini contest. I figured that was the lure for a lot of the young boys watching it. Correct me if i am wrong...

Wow that's lame.

Just like video games wrestling isnt aimed for kids anymore. Most of the storylines are way too mature for kids.

There's nothing wrong with watching wrestling. If you think people should stop watching it because not everything in it is real then I guess people should stop watching any show that isnt Reality TV.

Just as a heads up - the 'bleeping out' for the Kurt Angle chants were a full-on work. Jerry Lawler, on air, even brought them up during Kurt Angle's entrance in his pre-match spiel. That should give you clear indication of who's idea it was, and it WAS the WWE.

BTW, I watch wrestling, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Girls have soaps, guys have wrestling, its as simple as that. However, I watch it for the Ric Flair's, the Chris Benoit's, the Kurt Angle's, and the all the crusierweights. Guys like John Cena and Batista are crapola to the nth degree, its all about the good wrestling and those who can carry a match.

UFC is good for a couple of minutes before you get tired of the same old routine - they jockey each other for a bit, throw a few punches/kicks, lock up on the ground, and then someone catches a lucky break and gets the winning blow or submission. The fact that wrestling is scripted shows that no two matches are ever similar by nature on a show, whereas that seems to be the format every time for UFC.

That's not the right analogy at all.

If you want to say it's just "acting", then it is by far the worst acting on television and I have no clue why anyone would watch any show with such hopelessly horrid acting.

The whole appeal of television shows like Lost, Law and Order, CSI, whatever, is that they approximate and imitate real life. The best shows absorb you in the episode to the point where you forget that they are just actors and not actual people having actual problems.

WWF is just a joke. A four year old could tell they're not hitting each other. The only thing WWF is good for is a laugh once in a while at what a joke it is and at all the morons who actually attend these "events".

It's true they have their bad actors but they also have guys who can sell what they're acting. Yeah, sometimes you can tell the punches and kicks never did connect but there's other moves that they do that they sacrifice their bodies to do and arent just an illusion.

There's probably plenty of shows that you like that I could call complete crap but I'm not going to criticize you and other people for watching it.

You will never get it because you can't get past the fact that they are putting on a show. No longer do they deny that they are an act, that went out the window circa 1996. Heck, everybody has known for years before 1996 that it was all an act.

It isn't the "realism" that draws people to watch wrestling. If realism is all that people wanted, shows and movies like Batman, Superman and X-Men wouldn't be very successful either.

Wrestling is like a comic book, only it is live action, and comic books aren't all geared towards kids either.

Just because you don't like something or understand why people do, doesn't make the people morons for liking it.

Good God man. I thought I'd check out the off topic forum for a change of scenery...and this is what I find!? Wrestling!?!? *haha* I realize this is an OFF TOPIC forum...but I don't think wrestling and hockey (especially Flames hockey) should share the same space on the web. Wrestling is the most pathetic crap shown on television these days. I still can't get over the amount of fans this "sport" has. I can understand the attraction to wrestling for kids...but good god man...most of the fans are grown men! I'll never understand this. It's a soap opera for men...with sweaty disgusting half naked men rolling around on top of each other.

I'd rather watch bowling...enough said

Like I said before, wrestling is no longer for kids and if I had a kid there's no way I would let them watch wrestling until they hit mid-teens. 15 years ago you didnt have Elizabeth telling Macho Man how good Hulk Hogan is in the sack or have her in a bra and panties match with Scary Sherry.

And like I also said before there's probably plenty of shows you watch I can call complete crap but I'm not going to criticize you or anyone else for watching it because everybody has different tastes and there's nothing wrong with watching wrestling.
