I had a feeling Darryl would try Ritchie with Monahan and Gaudreau. Big with wheels and goes to the dirty areas. And right handed for once.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Ritchie, I think his game could translate well there.

While its entirely possible he wanted to see Ritchie with those two my bet is he's replacing Bennett on that line

That's a pretty good call.

So, at the outset Sutter sees the top-nine as

Tkachuk · Lindholm · Dube
Gaudreau · Monahan · Bennett
Lucic · Backlund · Mangiapane

Ryan will centre the fourth line; likely with Ritchie and one of Nordstrom/Simon on the other wing.

This is a combination that always looked promising on paper, but has been frustratingly inconsistent over the course of the season. Maybe it is as simple as adjustments and line-matchups to bring the best out of them?

The goalie on the right looks like hes about to die.

Just witnessed a lengthy bag skate. For anyone wondering how practice is going today.

@EricFrancis

“He stressed there’s not going to be a crazy changes in the way we’re playing. He said… the system is correct but the style we need to fix.” - Matthew Tkachuk on Darryl Sutter's early approach.

I didn't think there would be bag skating in the first practice but I wonder about the conditioning of this team as they really looked tired in the 2nd half of the game against the Oilers.

It just goes to show how clueless the previous coach was.
I cannot wait to see the product on the ice 3 weeks from now.
My expectations are probably sky high but I truly believe Darryl will have these guys playing proper hockey by April 1st.

We will make the playoffs and make some noise!

I kinda like the look of these top 3 lines.

Mixes things up a bit and gives us some looks we haven’t really tried.
