Flames win 2-0.

Markstrom scores both goals.

Nesterov hasn't been playing like a 6th d though. A solid 3-4 unlike some other guy....

Giordano has been playing better ... he and Andersson have almost worked their way back to break even.

Nesterov has been solid, but he's cooled off. Five of his last nine games have been under water, and his last game he had an xGF% of 9%.

Having a turn in the press box isn't a crime.

I’d like to see the return of Backlund, too, but only if he is 100%. I want him ready to put a stake through the Oilers’ heart.

Mackey was a big deal when Treliving got him. My guess is they keep playing him

You are just so....wrong.

Tell me what in Gio's stats/resume etc suggests he is anything but a solid 2/3 guy who has digressed from an elite #1 at age 38.

It is amusing to watch though. Can't wait for the really clever "Giosaurus" reference.

I really like Nesterov, hope he's back tonight. I don't mind Mackey either but after a couple games and taking 3 penalties last game he can sit for a game or two. At least it's nice to know between Mackey and Kylington that there is indeed some depth there if needed, which it will be.

I don't mind Simon, but a lot of times I forget he's even playing. He's just....there. It's too bad Leivo didn't bring more to the table, he could have been a fit on that Monahan line but so far he's been meh as well.

Big thing I'm looking for is to see Chucky play more like old Chucky. He has a lot more he can bring, hopefully we see that consistently starting tonight.

4-2 Flames.

Flames defensemen in the last ten games ... xGF%

Tanev 58%
Hanifin 55%
Andersson 52%
Giordano 52%
Nesterov 48%
Valimaki 48%

The top pairing to start the season has righted the ship, the bottom pairing has struggled somewhat ... overall the numbers are honestly just normalizing.

I like Nesterov, but I see more transition in Mackey's game if he's given time. He'll make more mistakes, but I think he's a better player than Nesterov in April if you put in the time.

And his penalties the other night ... not due to speed at all. Cross checking a player in front of the net that was motionless, a phantom high stick that didn't make contact, and a can opener by accident in deep supporting a forecheck.

Nothing on the transition or in desperation.

Here's a dumb question, but why do we always adjust the game time to accomodate whatever team we're playing. If we play Vancouver, we play at 8pm MT, if we play Winnipeg the game time is set to 6pm MT. It seems like we're always catering to their fanbase for some reason. Why is that? Do we only get 7pm start times when we play Edmonton? Didn't we have some 5pm MT starts when the Leafs were in town?

Need to put this in the win column to put a strangle hold on the series head to head, points wise get in the top four in the division, and keep the winning streak going.

Flames win 5-2.

Disagree. I've really liked Nesterov but he hasn't been better than Andersson, Valimaki, Andersson, Gio or Tanev
