In a re-draft, I think it would be hard to argue against Vasilevsky going 1st overall. He has to be the most consistently elite goaltender in the modern era.

And I hate drafting goalies early.

Oh, completely forgot about Vasilevsky. Yeah you're right.

I don’t disagree, I just don’t think even with hindsight a goalie goes #1.

In a re-draft of the 2012 draft he would, 100%.

Goalies aren't drafted high because it is impossible to determine if they will work out.

But, as Markstrom has recently reminded everyone, a good goalie is the most important player on the team. If you know you're getting a Vezina winner, of course you would take them first.

Exactly look what happened with Us ,Trevor Kidd was considered the best goalie in that draft at that time, Martin Brodeur was the third best ,we pick Kidd and he bomb out Jersey grab Marty and the rest is history. Hell look at the wings they where always finding diamonds in the later rounds of the draft.

Vasi and Hellebuyck are 1-2 no matter what in a re-draft.

Forsberg, Hertl, Rielly, Trouba, Wilson, H Lindholm, Dumba, Parayko, Severson, Slavin are probably the 10 best skaters (listed in order of points).

F Andersen, Korpisalo, Matt Murray would probably be in the top 15-20 in a red-draft, too.
