Thing is, though, neither Froese nor Ritchie were on the taxi squad. They were "called up" right from the AHL.
Believe the whole original idea with the Taxi squad was to keep those guys "separated" from the regular group in case of the need to have covid fill-ins?

not sure if that is actually happening league wide or any of the actual implications or process around that

It's not what the rule says.

I think the idea was that you'd have a group of AHL guys who wouldn't have to quarantine before joining the team. Except Froese didn't have to.

The idea of the taxi squad was so a recalled player didn't have to travel to cover an injury.

Why would Froese have to quarantine? The AHL players are all in Calgary.

It seems that the league is OK with just postponing games.

But I also don't think the main roster is completely isolated from the taxi squad. I recall at the beginning of the season, Ward was asked in an interview if the taxi squad would travel with the team on road trips, and he said the taxi squad is part of the team and would travel with them at least for the first road trip.

I think the taxi squad was just to make it easier to recall players due to injury and the wear and tear of a condensed season without having to force them to face additional unnecessary risks and potential restrictions of more travel and from adding players from outside the bubble.
