You got to get your backups feet wet here and there though. As much as he dropped the ball on a couple of goals tonight he settled in afterwards. Hopefully we can limit the time he need to do that moving forward. The jets are a team we should be beating so I don't blame Ward for keeping him in to steady himself and get his confidence. Particularly on the back to back. The others guys just need to do their part as well and get actually get some shots on net.

Special teams have been bad on this road trip, the powerplay in particular. First and second goals might have been stoppable — not easy saves — but they should have never been allowed to happened if the PP wasn’t sleepwalking. And if they can convert on one of those it’s a 3-3 game.

Good push at the end but too little too late. Wonder if we see some personnel/line changes for Thursday.

You can look at the silver lining here and say that Rittich looked much better in the 2nd and 3rd, like he has shaken the rust off. Maybe we can be more confident in our tandem moving forward.

Average performance for an average team with an average record.

No depth scoring at all. No production from guys like Bennett, leivo, Ryan, Nordstrom, mangi, while Backlund
and dube are only producing alright so far... the whole engine needs to get going.

The Flames bottom 6 is not very good.

They need to figure something out.

Not really mad about this one. Flames looked good for at least stretches of all 3 periods, though I wish they played with a bit more urgency throughout each one. They flat-out dominated Winnipeg for stretches.

Game was lost because of poor goals by Rittich. That sucks, but on the bright side, this is a game he can build off. Winnipeg got some grade-A chances on Rittich as the game wore on, but Rittich closed the door. Sucks that he had to work himself into the game, but he didn't fall apart. If he can build off of this game, then I am ok with losing this one.

Flames are not looking as scatterbrained or jittery out there as much, and for me, that's a fantastic sign. I am ok with this loss. Losses are going to happen. Sucks that Jets got 3/4 points in this back-to-back, but Flames will make up the points I bet with their way they are improving.

Just look at the positives and move on.

Figure out the first periods, for crying out loud. Don’t be chasing the damn game from start to finish. They need to inflict their will on the other team.

I thought the Flames pk in the 3rd was so good it changed the momentum entirely.

I thought CGY played really well early. Clean exits and puck support all over the ice. Still some work to do with unforced giveaways. Rittich got better as game went on. Valimaki was strong. Maybe create more action at net and more desperation.

Great looks at end but just couldn't get it to go. Clean some things up and will get rolling.

So nice that our rivals all get to pad their stats by beating up on Ottawa while we continue to tread water as per usual.

Maybe quit ####ing falling behind by multiple goals in the first period too? What a novel idea that would be.

Did the loss crash CP?

Rittich needs more than 2 goals a game in run support.

Game turned on Lucic turnover and bad goaltending...usually the guy who passes it to the other team tries to get it back or at least covers somebody

Three games against the Jets that have been very even IMO. Not much to choose between the teams.

It sucks that they have gotten 5 out of 6 points.

Bad start, lack of attention to detail in the defensive end. Perimeter play until the final 10 mins where suddenly everybody decides to get tenacious on the puck and push for the middle of the ice.

Wtf is with this team — other than a bounce or two every game is the same “largely mediocre but just flirting with something interesting” script.

Flames need to win the next one in regulation and even it up at 5 each

Monahan was great. I thought Backlund was better in the 3rd (after being bad early)

We simply can't have Lucic gifting teams goals every 3rd game.
I think there are some very simple adjustments that need to be made.

Lindholm/Tkachuk is bad. It just is. Lindholm is a north south score off the rush player. Tkachuk is a much more east west, work the puck deep and into the slot kind of player. Move Lindholm to top line RW.

Tkachuk/Backlund have always played well together. They are both struggling this year, and it's insane to not try them together. Go with Tkachuk-Backlund-Mangiapane.

Lucic-Ryan-Dube is your third line, but needs to be used sparingly to start the game. Lucic takes a bit to get going.

Nordstrom-Bennett-Leivo can be your 4th line.

Bennet on PP2 instead of Lucic and get him working on zone entries with speed.

Well, it would seem we can’t win half either, so far.
