Professionally, I swear very sparsely. I believe that my industry is quite conservative, and I keep it to a minimum. I also don't believe I should be communicating with my coworkers or boss that way either. I am a front person who communicates directly with clients, and I believe I should be setting an example for others in how I wish they communicate with my clients too. I do catch myself saying "oh my goodness", "dang", or stuff like that, which would personally drive me nuts.
In my personal world, it is very much different, and I absolutely agree with the thread title. I would, however, expect that if I am a someone's client, that they typically don't swear excessively.
I feel like there is a time, a place, and comfort levels in which to consider.

My kids are 13 and 14 and we don't allow them to swear. They do use "frick" pretty liberally and I'm okay with it. They'll call each other out for "fricking up" or tell each other to "frick off." I don't find it offensive at all and it's a good replacement word for fata at their age and around me. I'm sure around their friends they actually swear.
I don't swear around my kids or any kids much at all. When I do, it's an accident nine times out of 10. Around friends and at work I do swear.
Most of the best songs and movies have swears and I'm 100% okay with allowing my kids to hear that stuff. I can't imagine how conservative you'd have to be to deny your kids access to all the great art out there just because it has "bad words". Like, c'mon, relax and be cool.

They're allowed to drink "cold" caffeine aka soda. The whole caffeine thing is probably the most normal part of that religion.

Its not much of a swear. But I like it. It just feels like it has some weight to it.

I'm actually okay with that one. I too was surprised when it was censored, but I also dont want to be complicit in bringing about the Rise of the Machines.
SkyNet's going to have to pull their own weight on that one.

For me depends on the setting. In a workplace I might say "dink" instead of "d*ck" or "shoot/sh*te" instead of "sh*t" or "fack" instead of "fu*k".
usually those are only if I'm not really actually angry about something. As soon as the real frustration hits the real words start flying. I dunno, seems like a way to keep things classy most of the time while gaining the added effect of the real swear when necessary.
And definitely recommend Swear Words with Nic Cage. Informative and hilarious.

These words have to be considered naughty to occupy that special region of the brain. Softer, replacement words will not have the same physical effect.

I would amend the thread title to: "People Who Don't Swear Are Untrustworthy."
Like children. We dont allow them to swear and you just know one of those shifty little bastards would shiv you in the kidneys the second you werent looking.

What if you're desensitized where no word is considered naughty anymore.

Imagine having a hockey coach that doesn't swear. I had this around bantam level I think (age 13). Players would swear left and right on the ice and in the room, but the coach never did, even when extremely angry. It was an odd experience.

There are occasions where people will almost never swear - in church, at a job interview, on a first date, meeting your in-laws.
As long as the word is considered taboo in certain situations, it will occupy that region of the brain.

His 7 year old was doing something in the room next to us and yelled "S-h-i-t".
My buddy is like "Yo honey you can't swear"
She says "I could have said "f-u-c-k"

The inability to swear freely promotes inventiveness. Would I think to call someone a smoothed ballsack if CP let me call them a ****? Probably not. Whore’s breath, that’s a good one. Telling someone they’re the crunchy ejaculate of human beings probably stings a bit more than saying they’re a ****. Use your imagination and force the mods to create all new filters!

Oh yah, this is very true. I will never be the first to swear if I am sitting down with a client for the first time. But if they open up with something like "What the #### is this ####?" then I can be more loose. Try and match how they are to make them feel more comfortable.
