This is still making me laugh.
"Hello random Boston resident...please tell us what you think of the weather..."

Living famous in Calgary vs. anonymously in Boston seems like a no brainer to me

What do you mean anonymous- they can’t leave the poor guy alone- stalking him asking about mundane things like the weather

I wonder how many texts he has received today from former teammates with today's weather forecast showing 14°C in Calgary?

Don’t forget the experience his kids would be in for going to school here. Not just him who would thrive in the anonymity Boston provides

lol too funny.
Does anyone have insight into why Iginla ended up living in Boston? Seems unlikely for a Canadian with a Canadian wife to end up in an American city he spent one year out of a 20 year career in. I guess they really fell in love with the place.

Man, hockey needs Iggy back. I never had any doubt his mentality and intelligence would land him in a hockey exec job like an Yzerman or Shanahan. I'm glad he's having fun in Boston, but greatness is not yet through with you young Iggy!!

Boston apparently has very strong youth hockey programs, especially for girls. He has already said that they plan to move back to Canada once their kids are older.

Iggy's family lived in Boston even when he played for the AVS/Kings...mostly due to the kids sports and schooling.

If neither Iginla nor his wife are American, how is he remaining as a resident within the US? For the TN and H1B visas, don't you need to be actively employed?
I guess he's been in the US since early 2013, so he could be a citizen by now. But I wonder what he did in the beginning.

If I recall a few interviews he did about living in Boston, it was something along the lines of this.
He loved Boston and so did his family, he enjoyed living in Denver as it reminded him of Calgary and Alberta. The issue with Denver was the hockey related travel for his growing family. They had a decent youth program there but the travel would have been a lot and he was sick of it.
In Boston you get the great hockey program , great schools and a lot of the sports travel is very close given the population density and location. A 2-3 hour drive and your hitting a ton of areas.
He asked his kids where they wanted to go when he was done and they all agreed Boston was a good overall fit.

Jarome has a 2008 aged kid the same as my son, Marty St Louis does as well. Pre pandemic we traveled a fair bit to Boston to play in hockey tournaments and both guys are around a lot and are nothing but awesome with all the kids and parents alike.
conversations, pictures etc they are fantastic.

If I recall his mother is an American citizen so it’s possible he as acquired his citizenship via that route.
