8. Thou shalt have but one name. You only need one account to post. Registering another account to say something you don't want attributed to yourself probably means it's not a good thing to say in the first place. That means no Nice Guy/Mean Guy or Flames fan/Other fan role playing. Keep in mind that our moderators have the tools to very quickly detect Dual Accounts. In other words, don't try and fool us.
Complain to the Mod's then, if you're suspicious. It says in Rule 8 that if I'm using more than one handle, I'll get caught out 'very quickly'.
Not even on the issues any more? Just thrashing about with unfounded (and false) accusations? :baby:

I see... first you maliciously accuse me of being multiple posters with no evidence, and now you're bothering me about arguments from previous threads.
I respond to topics of conversation that are interesting and people I respect, neither of which I find here at the moment. Buzz off.

Following this line of logic along, I can only assume you don't buy a poppy and you are fiercely opposed to veteran's benefits.
I always love the whole "cut them off" argument. Newsflash -- it doesn't work that way. Whitey signed all those treaties too and obviously won the day. It's pretty silly to start bitching now that the natives in this country are getting a sweet deal and the government should just decide to ignore what was agreed to generations ago.

Exactly, its a scenario where when the threaties were signed, Eruo-Canadians twisted them in so many ways to get things out of them. Now, when the First Nations populations attempt to use the same treaties, and what is promised in them, they get harrased and called freeloaders. You cannot have it both ways. Euro-Canadians cannot ignore the treaties now because they don't want to live up to old promises. What a fataing silly notion..."welll, that treaty is so old, it doesn't have legal standing anymore..." Governments and societies cannot go picking and choosing what aspects of treaties they want to adhere to.
Honestly, if people think that this 4 billion is a lot, imagine if the treaty 6 and 8 Nations start asking for what, under the treaty was never surrendered - mineral rights. This includes oil and gas.
Or, how about a class action between the First Nations against the Government of Canada for willingly breaking the contract signed in the Royal Proclamation of 1776. That one could, if Euro-Canadians were honestly looked at how many times the provisions of the proclamation were broken in order to take resources from the First Nations, they would realize that it could legitimately bankrupt the country.
4 Billion dollars is getting off lightly.
Oh, and those against this money, don't even try to argue that you wouldn't be suing if someone broke countract and screwed you out of billions of dollars. Or, if you were siezed from your home and forced into a residential school.
Oh and yeah, I doubt I see the guys calling Natives "leeches" denying their $400 King Ralph handout check...

At least my 4 years of "higher education" taught me how to read
and yes if the Fibs want to buy my vote they can pay off my tuition bills and my mortgage then I'll think about it...which is about as likely as the Cannots winning the cup in the next decade.

Add to this, another $1.5 billion, mostly in loan guarantees or repayable loans today announced by the Fiberals for the lumber industry...
all conditional on the Liberals getting re-elected
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...hub=TopStories
Vote buying should be illegal. Period. I don't care what party does it, or whether I support them or not. It is vote buying. With our money.
Another thought is that I find there are a lot of students here. I too recall being quite liberal minded as a student many moons ago... then the reality of the real world hit. I became a full fledged, government hand in pocket always citizen when I entered the working world. Kind of wonder how many here are basing their opinions on their student illusions of what taxation is all about.

FoL thinks taxation is organized theft by the government, and that not a single penny of 'tax money' is legitimate. THAT sounds like a 'liberal minded student'.
That said, I've been out for several years, slaving away in the private sector, and I firmly believe in the Government using the money to make good on past (big) mistakes. I think you'd be surprised... but a lot of Green and NDP voters aren't students. Being young does not = liberal, naive, or stupid. Nor does being in school.

Well, I think it goes without saying that the Liberals cannot keep their promises unless they get re-elected. The question is, will they keep their promises if they are re-elected?
History says no. Unfortunately it is too much to hope that nobody will be fooled.

How does that mesh with "liberal elite" stereotype?

Not surprised at the least. But being young tends to lead you to liberal tendancies. Young are exposed and need help; some help themselves. Over time, most of those that help themselves will have conservative tendancies.... the ones that don't will fall into all the different buckets as life evolves for them.
There is that cross section of society that either chooses to stay on the same rung of the ladder, or can't climb it. That is your NDP sect. The Greens? If and when they actually step up to the plate, then let their future be decided. Not saying they can't over time... they just haven't.

Could you put that into context Rouge? I did say liberal, not Liberal, or Fiberal, if you so choose.

Well I'm not sure you are guilty of it so maybe it wasn't a fair question, but a lot of people bitch and complain that "liberals" are often wealthy, snobby, educated types, watching the (liberal) CBC and sniffing at the common man.
Adrienne Clarkson and her husband would fit nicely in the dictionary next to "liberal elites".
They don't fit in with your suggestion that people with liberal tendencies are misguided young people or people "unwilling to help themselves" or people that haven't seen the light.

Perhaps the difference, Rouge, is that of liberal vs Liberal.

And I do take an offense to your quote of "unwilling to help themselves". Never did I say this. When you quote something in a rebuttal, please quote factual statements. THAT, my friend, is part and parcel of why I hate politics.

I'm not sure I follow. Which group is it that won't grow up and become conservative and help themselves?
Stereotyping liberal-minded people as either stunned youth or lazy adults doesn't work.
