Lol

Gets owned and then moves the goal posts.

And believe me, I am no Flames apologist.

Elliot cost them that series. Period.

Game 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WLS2DdEBnA
Goal 1 - terrible rebound for a tap in
Goal 2 - a muffin from far out he flubs off the glove
Goal 4 - a shot from the point Elliott never seems to see
OT winner - terrible shot from the corner

Game 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNl_KwG5Hes
Elliott allows an early shot from the wall in the corner to squeak through him after getting a vote of confidence to rebound.

Attempting to defend Brian Elliott's performance in those playoffs is laughable.

As far as Cam Talbot, I don't blame him for the Game 6 loss vs Dallas. Those goals against were all quite lucky and ridiculous, though I think he struggled at times earlier in the series.

But trying to defend Brian Elliott's performance in the playoffs? Ridiculous.

At least, it's the worst stretch that I've seen, by far. I know some people really hated Phil Sauve though, so maybe that tops it? Idk, I'll need some of my elders to weigh in on this one.
1995 and 1996 Trevor Kidd says hi. .856 sv% in the massive upset loss to the Sharks including letting in just the worst series winner. The he follows that up with a 6.48 GAA and .775 sv% against Chicago.

Not trying to defend Elliot.

But the only reason his signing makes news here is because too many flames fans these days look for scapegoats for endless mediocrity or losing. And its so entrenched in the fanbase that this guy still makes for a thread here.

4 series wins in 30 years and counting. Brutal

Fans can be upset about Elliott's performance in that series and ALSO be disappointed in the Flames' overall playoff record. Nobody's trying to say the Flames have only 1 Cup in 40 years because of Brian Elliott.

There is a separate thread for every goalie who has moved or signed this offseason.

You are creating a narrative that doesn't exist.

The Flames have been mediocre, yes. AND, the goaltending has been a major problem for some time.

Get over yourself, and maybe try to see that there is more than one narrative.

The best thing I can say about Elliott’s time as a Flame is his red pads were straight fire.

I also appreciate goalies that still rock a #1.

But I cannot help but be impressed by the man’s ability to continually secure NHL cheques.

He’s been the same flawed goalie since he came into the league, but he’s managed to endure by never being on a bad contract.

Is he a true #1? No. Is he good in the playoffs? No.

But he never counts for more than $2.5M against the cap, so fans can only hold him so responsible. And for that, he gets to stick around.

Genius.

Please enough of this revisionist history and stats to try to prove Elliott's playoffs for The Flames.

I was ready to sign that guy long-term after the regular season, thank God we didn't.

He was ABYSMAL in the playoffs. WE could have swept that series and not the other way around, The Ducks played mediocre and we can thank Elliott as the double agent/mole who gifted them that series.

Now ask me how I really feel...

Right now on the first page of the FoI there are threads dedicated to the rumoured trade of Devan Dubnyk to SJ, Robyn Lehner's contract extension with VGK, and Tristan Jarry's extension with Pittsburgh. These to go along with a handful of other threads about player trades and re-signings, plenty of which have nothing whatsoever to do with the Calgary Flames.

No, the reason there is a thread dedicated to Philadelphia's re-signing of Brian Elliot is because it is hockey news, and this is a hockey forum. More to the point, I think it is abundantly clear that the only reason you chose to comment on this thread was to complain, since that seems to be all of what you do around here.

You literally just have to watch one single game worth of highlights from that Ducks series to realize how incredibly pathetic of a performance that was from Elliott.

It's INARGUABLY one of, if not the WORST goaltending performance ever in the Playoffs.

Anyone who tries to argue that fact just needs to shush because there is absolutely no chance they are even 0.01% right in their argument

I just put myself through the pain of watching all the game highlights from that series.

I remember the pure anger I had along with EVERY. SINGLE. FAN. watching Game 4 live at the Dome when Elliott let that stinker in and got immediately pulled. The cheers as he was leaving the ice was probably the best part of that series lol

Versteeg was right: F*** you Elliott

Not only did Elliott gift wrap that series to a VERY beatable Ducks team, but had we advanced, we would have had the first playoffs BOA in 30 years.

Then we would have faced Nashville in the WCCs.

#### you, Elliott.

In my estimation truth and accuracy are not ever small details. That you consider them as such explains a good deal about the content of many of your posts.

Lol seriously? Threads are created for a Broissoit extension with the Jets and Grabner being put on a waivers. Weird stuff this being a hockey forum and all!

Terrible goalies since Kipper IS a major REASON the Flames been struggling, not an EXCUSE.
Get a grip.
