Better than mine too!

Also, the neighborhood across one street is ranked 90 places higher haha.

I think my favorite is the last ranked community is probably in my top 15 i'd want to live in if not in the one I am in.

Yeah. It's the actual worst, too. I used to cut the grass there in the 90s. It's straight up trailer park boys, but not funny.

One time as I was mowing I noticed a ketchup bottle sitting in the grass. Okay, that's weird, but obviously I have to pick it up because you can't mow over it. For whatever reason I popped the top and the fataing thing exploded and covered me in ketchup for the rest of the day. Hate that place.

Acadia is amazing for a lot of reasons, so I'm not surprised they're high on the list.

My community is constantly really low, but again, I'm fine with that. I understand why.

One day though...one day we shall rise up and conquer the Mackenzie Lake Scourge and take back what is rightfully ours!

Are you with me Comrades?!?!?

I certainly wouldn’t take it over it’s neighbour Willow Park (55).

Right, eh? These top-10 lists are as moronic as those who see any value in them...

My last job was honest to god the assistant trailer park supervisor at that place. And yeah, I've seen some stuff.

My neighbourhood does not have enough data to be included in the list.

"While there are more than 200 neighbourhoods in Calgary, several of those are new and there isn’t enough data to compare them fairly against the more established neighbourhoods."

Which is hilarious because the community has been around since 2006 at least and is on the CoC website.

This is clearly ranked based on people not having a car and wanting to be by bus stops and bad restaurants then a nice area and driving 5 minutes !

I was confused to, but it does compute using their methodology. For example, if a rec center, park, restaurant is on 14th street it is assigned only to one community Hillhurst. West Hillhurst is several blocks away, but they don't get any points. So it skews things.

That is as far as I was willing to go spend breathing time to rationalize the results.

There are really only two types of rankings.

Rankings made intentionally controversial to generate discussions and rankings that are so incomprehensibly stupid that you wonder if the results were compiled by a group of unsupervised chimpanzees on LSD.

It’s pretty clear which group these rankings belong in.

Having a look at their methodology

Quote:
Based on our survey, the weighting of importance is 18216.
is an example the parks category. The rest are similar. Five significant figures!!! The weightings don't even add up to a round number of any sort. So parks are 18216/134067 total weighting. Why not just say 13.6%???? FFS, I hate people who have no sense of math whatsoever.

I think it is a toss up between those two. They are both very similar in terms of age of homes, style, size and price. Amenities are essentially the same in my opinion. Brentwood might be slightly easier access to downtown and has better access to institutions like the UofC, Foothills and the Children's hospital. Recreation is moderately better in Brentwood with easy access to Nose Hill, Confederation Park and the Bowmont/Bow River valley pathway system.

Personally, I would pick Brentwood over Acadia but I am biased as I live in Varsity.

If you guys haven't noticed the formula to these, it is to distance neighbouring communities by 6-20 spots. Being controversial over what types of communities are ranked higher or lower ran it's course for them a few years ago, so now they've found that people in communities being happy or upset over their position relative to their neighbouring community is a goldmine.

Just look at the reactions in this thread, alone. "OMG this community is right beside this community and down there!!". Their social media reaction is that X way more people.

West Hillhurst is one block away from Hillhurst.
