Trade Gaudreau. Everything from line combos to play style can naturally evolve from this single move, regardless of the return. Otherwise I think we're spinning our tires.

Head Coach.
After that trading Monahan for a big RHS center who can get the puck and give it to Johnny.

Trade Gaudreau.
This group needs to be rebuilt. There’s absolutely no game breaking talent on the roster or in the system.
A noteworthy coach isn’t going to want to burn an opportunity with this group Tkachuk + a bunch of nobodies.

Head coach, for a head coach with a good NHL resume.
That would be the true gauge of whether the roster actually is better than the results have been or not.

Can’t do it. This team needs more than a single change.

Trading Gaudreau and hopefully getting some assets in return that can help us.

Fair point to which most including myself may agree. History on the other hand IMO suggests there will not be any sweeping changes. A single 'big shake-up' move may very well be all we get.
- Roughly 19/33 so far for proven Head Coach as having the most single move impact

I *was* going to say that. The problem is that I don't know if it would actually make a difference. He seems pretty hands off, except to say "at least break even" (my presumption on that, anyway) and "let me bask in the glory of owning the team" or whatever it is he does over there in expatriate-land. If we're lucky, the Brits will tax him at about 357%. Would serve him right.
So the only tangible benefit might be having a new owner who spends on a coach (and a GM?). Flames spend to the cap pretty much so that part is not gonna change.

New first line with an elite #1 center who can play equally well in the regular season and the playoffs.

New Gm. 6 years in and.....
We have no top line C.
We have not top line dman.
We have no starting goaltender.
Throw that in with the fact that most people feel that the coaching needs to change, my opinion is that the architect of this whole thing is in over his head.

Sadly, I have to agree with Flash. I've come to believe that this idiotic "Just make the playoffs and anything can happen" attitude has to be coming down from the top, as it's persisted through multiple regime changes now.
They'll never get anywhere with rushed rebuilds and holding on to old cores past the point where they can compete.
