He also made the Zucker trade at the deadline 2019 and the Kadri/Brodie and other pieces trade in the summer of 2019 but they got blocked by circumstances beyond his control.

It's his medium and low danger that are impressive and at the top of all goalies in the qualifiers.
I wonder how much of this has to do with the number of HDSCs in the series. Based on what I saw, Talbot saw only a small handful each game, whereas it has looked like other goalies in other series have had to work much harder. Is this number also a product of how very good the Flames have been defensively?

I read Comixzone's post a little differently. Treliving was all in until the very end in the Hall trade, but likely backed out once the price got too high. He learned from the Hamonic trade not to get sucked into a bidding war that he would regret. The same thing also happened with Mark Stone. So in this sense, "a little gun shy" is a very good thing.

As far as name recognition goes, the second line must be the most underwhelming second line in the NHL. But man are they effective, Backlund and Mangiapane play such simple straight line games and Tkachuk is Tkachuk. It will be interesting to see how they fare with a deeper team.

The middle two lines are in great shape. Aside from Ryan, the 4th line is a bit of a black hole. The 4th line basically has one job. Play 6 to 10 minutes and don't get scored on.

Id still like to see more from the Monahan line. I thought Monahan had an excellent first half of game 4, but faded in the second half. Lindholm has been excellent, but Gaudreau is still finding his way. He's trying too hard to create space when its not going to happen. I hope they are showing him video of how the play dies when he hold onto the puck for too long. That pass to Lindholm for the first goal the other night is the perfect example of how Gaudreau can shine.

Aside from perhaps a subtle changing of the guard going on, on the back end. I have no issue with the defense, they have been quite good.

I went back and glanced at the scoresheets for all the Stars and Blues games this season and it looks like the 2nd line thrived against Dallas and the top line played well against STL...production wise. Not so sure on defensive stuff.

Either way, I think the top line fares better than previous year in either match up. We shall see.
