Flames were such a skilled team in the 80's that the only way for him to crack the lineup was to essentially be a goon. He almost had 300 penalty minutes in the 87/88 season which is crazy and he's 19th NHL all time penalty minutes despite being a skilled guy. He was never quite the same player after the serious neck injuries but still managed to be productive in Carolina and Toronto. Tkachuk is a very good player but I don't think he could impact a game like Roberts in his prime who could score a hat trick and scrap the opposing team's goon in the same game.
