Cale Hulse's father has provided me with my most vivid Saddledome off-ice memory.
It was early in the 99-00 season versus the Kings. The Flames had started year 1-4, and the vibe around the team was already pretty despondent.
Hulse was having a particularly bad night, caught flat-footed and responsible for a couple of the goals against.
Someone muttered, "Come on, Hulse. You suck!" A few seconds later, a man dives into the row, grabbing the frustrated fan by the collar, trying to fight him. Popcorn and beer were flying everywhere.
We later found out it was 32's dad, who wanted to avenge his son's honour.
