Rittich's last 5 at the Dome:
Feb 15 Vs. CHI: 4GA on 15 Shots, Pulled, .733 S%
Feb 4 Vs. SJS: 3GA on 26 Shots, Loss, .885 S%
Feb 1 Vs. EDM: 6GA on 28 Shots, Pulled, .786 S%
Dec 31 Vs. CHI: 4GA on 32 Shots, Loss, .875 S%
Dec 29 Vs. VAN: 3GA on 7 Shots, Pulled, .571 S%
...that is some kinda awful. Rittich hasn't won on home ice since December 12th.

I will assume between now and tomorrow night that someone will politely remind Ward that Rittich has been garbage at home recently and that Talbot is coming off of a shutout with three nights rest. Just give it time...

One goalie has a shut out last game, the other goalie has done this in his last 5 starts at the dome....better start Rittich?
WTF

I knew he stunk lately but not winning at home since Dec. 12 is really, really bad.

I see Hamonic and Forbort sharing the same spot. I’d keep Gustafsson in for PP time.

Actually?
No.
Connor Hellebyuck has recorded five shutouts. He has started the next game three times, and lost each one of those quite badly.
Alex Stalock has four shutouts on the season. He has started the next game three times, and lost each one of those quite badly.
Tuuku Rask has four shutouts on the season. He has never started the next game. The goaltenders for the League-leading Boston Bruins have not once this season started back-to-back games following a shutout.
I only looked at three goalies who are clearly part of a tandem. I am sure the overall number is much higher.

Definitely not with posts like this...
If Rittich starts we might as well just get it over with and give the BJs a 1 goal lead to start.

Umm have you seen Rittich's home numbers? Woof! Hiller/Elliot like.
I'm sure Hellebuck, Stalock and Rask has won at least 1 game since Dec 12th at home....

I would have preferred that Talbot start tomorrow. (Mind you, coming off of his last shutout performance he was also quite bad the next game.)
However, the Flames need Rittich to start winning at the Saddledome, so they still need to get him into games this month.

You guys should be more worried about the Flames compete level and attention to detail below the goal line and in the slot than who is in net
|
Coming in as a backup mid game is no way to evaluate a goalie.
Rittich has been visibly unravelling. Sit him down, give Talbot a home start.

Clearly the only correct answer is to start Nick Schneider tomorrow.

Fair point - but Rittich has been leaky as hell. We also need him on his game down the stretch though, so I won't criticize the choice.

I was correcting an obvious exaggeration, and my post had nothing to do with Rittich's home-ice record.
Like I said above, I would prefer that Talbot start tomorrow, but Rittich still need to play a bunch of these home-ice games this month. It's not a decision worth freaking out about.

Talbot has also lost his last home start, and three of his last four. Neither goalie has been good at the Saddledome for a while now.
