A poll done by agents. You know... the people who negotiate the NTCs on behalf of their clients who, in turn, discuss with them possible scenarios and which teams would go on or off, accordingly.
You’re right, it’s a poll... but it’s not exactly a Calgary Sun Fan poll or a Billy on the Street poll.
No I mean, they name the two most likely. Not give a list of the ten most likely. So obviously it’s just Edmonton and Winnipeg with a bunch of random one offs that are probably the individual agents most recent memory of a city on a NTC having an impact.
There were a few posts suggesting it was surprising Calgary isn’t there. I’m saying the poll is set in such a way that Calgary being left off is not a reflection of how many NTC’s include Calgary.

That's a good point. I guess what is shows is that at a bare minimum, Calgary isn't in the top two least desirable places to play.
Calgary could be everyone's third least desired location.

surprised that Edmonton is the third least desired location to go and calgary is not close.
it would be interesting to know what the jets players really think about living there
Have you ever been to Edmonton and spent a few days there? When I say that it's a very unremarkable city I'm being very, very generous. The people are good but it's just not a great city. I'm not the brashest Calgarian as IMO it's merely a good city saddled with a really cold climate but I would imagine to millionaire athletes Calgary's more attractive for a variety of reasons including a better downtown, proximity to the mountains and being closer to the US border.
Mangiapane is repped by Mitch Winter, who also represents Mark Giordano.
Frolik is repped by Allan Walsh.
I also recall some division between Treliving and Sam Bennett's agent, Darren Ferris, but that may be just hearsay. Of course, Ferris was at the helm of Mitch Marner's contentious negotiation process.
The Gaudreau negotiation was another protracted one with agent Lewis Gross.

Reason: mixed up facts
Well, these results from the agents themselves should shutdown the consistent commentary here that most players have the Flames on their No Trade list.

If NTCs were two teams long you might have a point here.

Whoops. I get what you mean now. Good point!

I don't think a fan wants to see the team's GM on the "Most reasonable to deal with" list.
Holland there is good fodder. With some of those contracts he handed out in Detroit, I'm not surprised.
Yeah after the Phaneuf trade, Burke went out of his way to say how good Darryl was to work with and how he showed flexibility in getting the deal done. I recall thinking how that made me feel even worse.

Except for all those 2 team no trade clauses

Will NHL players be playing in the next Olympics? 7 yes 15 no
Will we see an offer sheet this summer? 19 no 2 yes 1 maybe
1 agent said Brad Treliving was the most unreasonable to deal with. Bob Murray was top with 4 agents and Doug Armstrong was 2nd with 3. 6 GMs including Treliving had 1 agent. 3 Gms had 2 agents.
and of course the most interesting question of all:

Actually the thing that surprised me the most within the article was 2-3 years ago Edmonton was TOPS on that list but everyone unilaterally agrees that McDavid and Drai are the only reason they no longer are at the 'top'.
I think it’s a pretty safe bet that all Canadian teams appear on lots of NTC’s.
I actually think NTC’s where players can pick and choose where they get traded are ridiculous and completely unfair as clearly there’s markets that are on there a lot more than others. I think it would be better for the league if teams stopped giving them out. I know that’s never going to happen but they are frustrating.
I wish these guys were treated as employees of the NHL and not employees of specific teams. There’s probably some labour law issues there though.
Why should people be forced to work where they don’t want to. I mean that is about the only way they have a choice once they have signed that contract(barring refusing to report). Also it is a way for owners to save a little money or sweeten the deal so not sure they would want it gone either.
