What are the lineups? Hanifin-Hamonic better not be a thing.

If this team really fancies themselves as legit contenders there's no excuse not to come out of that stretch any worse than 6-1-1. Good teams feast on bottom feeders.

I'm not saying they need that record to stay in the playoff race, but muddling through those games to a .500 record isn't something a team with cup aspirations should be doing. Hopefully they get off to a good start tonight!
Exactly. That's 8 games facing teams all outside the playoffs, except 1. If the flames can't win a high percentage of those games then I am ready to see the team lose a lot before the deadline.

This is the 2019-2020 Calgary Flames. If there's an excuse to be had, they'll take it. they've got a back to back in there (@the ducks for the latter game), 3 games in 4 nights. I think it's more likely that the flames go a game above 0.500 than to make some real noise here.

Anyone have the statistics for the Flames record since the coaching change?

Yeah at this stage I expect the team to continue doing exactly what they've been doing. Win as many games as they lose, but with some of those losses coming in OT/SO.

Rittich has been extremely inconsistent since Dec. 1 and is rocking a .900 save% in that time. Talbot on the other hand has a .932 save% in the same time frame. Its time to start leaning on Talbot more down the stretch.

For all the -22 goal differential talk, Haynes mentioned today that it was -18 with Peters this season, and is currently -4 with Ward. Last game's 8-3 loss sunk us back under again, but I think the context matters as well.

That being said, we still need to score some damn goals and defend better.

Talbot will get more starts but Rittich is going to get the bulk of them over the next week or two. They need points and its clear the team wants him in there more.

As for tonight, given how poorly Saturday went, I'm excited to see how Rittich plays and I'm sure he'll bounce back nicely.

15-8-2 (.640 pts %). I'm pretty sure that doesn't count his first game when Peters was only suspended.

I haven't been this meh about the flames in a long time, hoping for a win but it's like everybody knows how this game is going to shake out but the players who for some reason can't get it through their heads that if you dont play a full 60 minutes in the nhl you are probably going to freaking lose. Oh well ward will be there to give them high fives and let them play hand soccer next practice

both differentials are the worst among playoff teams, and leaves them as the only team that's negative of ALL playoff teams in the league...

So ward may be better than Peters in that regard, both are worse than any playoff team, in either conference.

Optional skate this morning so best guess is they go with the lines at practice yesterday.

So in that case it was
Brodie-Hamonic
Hanifin-Stone

I agree that Rittich starting tonight is about giving him an opportunity to bounce back after a rough start.

I just think that Talbot gives this team a better chance to win right now so I don't agree with Rittich getting the bulk of the starts down the stretch here.

IMO Rittich hasn't shown enough consistency to be a number 1 yet, I think he is more of a 1B.

I like Brodie Hamonic even less, but I think this is more about a Hanifin demotion (and giving Kylington a look from above after a couple rough games).

Optional morning skate for Calgary today. Kylington, Rinaldo, Rieder skating, looks like they’ll be healthy scratches tonight.

Stone, Jankowski coming back in. #Flames

That's definitely a valid thing to point out and eases my concern a bit, though they still need to get back above even
