Photo ops blowing up in politicians faces is one of the most cathartic events to witness. Makes me warm and fuzzy inside.

It's difficult for Australia as well because they are fairly isolated if manpower is an issue.
Maybe Donald Trump can send them some rakes..

Copied off Reddit but just to give an idea of what Australia is dealing with... 60,000km2 of area have been burnt in Australia creating a smoke area of 5.5 million km2. This is what that would look like in Alberta.
Edit, smaller circle is the fort Mac fire in comparison

Yah that red dot is too large for the area given. The diameter is about 150 km too wide.

There's not nearly enough of them. Majority of the time the politician is there for the optics, and nothing more. I cringe when I see things like, for example, nurses in Ontario hospitals lining up to meet Doug Ford that want to cut services from under their feet.

I started a business in Adelaide last year and this has really killed it. Obviously there are way worse outcomes for many more people. But it hurts none the less. Come on rain.

I wanted to add that as disgusted as I am with the PM I am also disgusted with many members of the Murdoch media refusing to mention budget cuts and global warming and instead blaming the fires on arsonists and the Green Party. It would be laughable if they didn’t control 2/3 of the local media and a chunk of the population wasn’t lapping it up. Instead of helping to bring the country together during a crisis they are trying to score political points and inflame (sorry for the pun) culture wars. Screw you guys.
Edit: I’ll balance with something positive. Go Celeste Barber you bloody legend.

Whether you believe the numbers or not, seeing the images and videos of koalas being rescued and some getting water from people really puts it in perspective that it’s not just humans but every living creature is affected by the fires

It is devastating seeing the images of injured animals. It is hard to believe the numbers but you need to take into account the vastness of the fires. Also they are not just being burnt alive but are starving to death from their food sources being destroyed. In the aftermath there may be some extinctions.

The PM is running out of feet to put in his mouth. This time he has tweeted an upbeat political ad. This guy has no clue how to lead or even read a room. Oh and the original ad featured a link for donations, not for the fire fighters but for the Liberal party!

This is actually a pretty interesting venture. Our big ole elephant sitting in front of the rubic's cube winery near Adelaide before the flames covered it all in ash.

God damn that is tragic.
I've been seeing a lot of misinformation on social media lately. Beware of the bots and trolls pushing an agenda.

Out-of-date photos of survivors and inaccurate fire maps have been widely shared, including by international celebrities.
As authorities fight the flames on firegrounds around the country, an ABC investigation has revealed a battle of a very different kind online.
One area of misinformation has been the hashtag #ArsonEmergency on Twitter.
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) researcher Dr Timothy Graham analysed 315 accounts posting #ArsonEmergency and said a third of them displayed highly automated and inauthentic behaviour.
In layman's terms, that means they're likely to be bots
