That “Brett Kulak miscalculation” article was the last Kent article I read, and kind of sums him up for me. Like a lot of his takes, it looked bad at the time and looks somehow even worse in hindsight.

Made a career out of it though. That’s the way it goes.

Statistics in sports by definition requires you to make bets. Trusting in probabilities. That means you aren't always going to be right. It seems some people in this thread remember only his misses. That's natural. It's the typical crowd though.

But Kent was right more often then he was wrong, and his comments were always insightful.

He will be missed in this community.

Big ol meh. I lament advanced stats and the rampant overuse in a conversation. Kills the fun IMO. Advanced buzzkilling more like it. Kent Wilson was a forefather of all things buzzkill so ....so long, and thanks for all the fish. That being said, he was passionate about the game and told some good stories in between the buzzkilling so kudos on a good career.

Anyone have a chart or graph for Wilsons career corsi stats? I'd love to have a long droning conversation about the percentages of his work. /sigh.

It was during the time Kent drove the bus over at Flames Nation I got really sucked in and escalated my fandom of the Flames and my understanding of the game. His writings was a big reason to why it happpened. I never made the jump over to the athletic so it's been quite a while since I read anything authored by Kent, but Kent, I really wish you well in the future endeavours and wish to thank you for helping in making me the Flames fan I am today.

I'm a big supporter in the value of using anything available in evaluating everything, and therefore a definite proponent of fancy stats.
Instead of Wilson's articles helping push their perceived value forward, he routinely did the opposite.
