It likely won't happen until game day though, to save a day of cap space.

The only one I can think of recently that sort of worked out was Versteeg.

I think it might be for Gawdin.
He had a good training camp, and is off to a good start in Stockton.
Think they might want to inject some more youth into this lineup that is a little stale up front right now.
Phillips and Dube would also be options although I think Dube is banged up.

PTOs are pretty much only ever useful for meeting the NHL Veteran numbers required for pre-season games. Signing them does not seem to work out too well.
Hopefully its time for Dube to stick with the big club

He and Dube have near identical stats, so it's really down to what Cail Maclean has to say.
There's always the Buddy Robinson option. He's had a nice season so far stats wise and he's a big boy.

Agree, I don't know that this signals a callup, it might just be for waiver flexibility going forward.

Wasn't Gio technically a PTO?

Also, while he didn't sign one with the Flames, Brendan Morrison came here after a PTO with the Canucks and I thought that was a pretty good signing.

Versteeg's PTO wasn't with the Flames either

At least we didn't have to put up with two years of 960 telling us how awesome Toby Reider is as a person.

The Islanders could use someone. Wonder if Rieder gets waived and then is traded to NYI for Ho-Sang. Buy-low option?

Doesn't sound like Rieder was out there for practice so I guess he did get sent down.

Good to see they found a creative way to keep the ASS line a thing.

Quine on 2L screams a period at most. Sorry. I like the guy but that's a miscast.

Makes me wonder who they call up when Rieder get sent down. Have to think it'll be a mini-audition for that role the next few games

Lou is talking about the Flames needing to play with more fire (pun intended?) and passion. Sounds like they need someone to drag them into a battle.
Zac Rinaldo, come on down.
And before we roll our eyes about how Lucic was supposed to be that guy. Lucic is reactive. Rinaldo is proactive.
Just a thought. Maybe an awful one.

I hope not. The guy can kill penalties but thats it. You can't have a guy taking ice time from other players because he is decent at the pk. We have other good pkers. Send him down.
