Surprised that they recall Phillips and he doesn't play.

Reider and Quine both getting a look beside Ryan, wonder if its between those two for the last forward spot.

Funny, I had the oposite reaction. I would much rather get a second look at some of the depth battles then watch the regular team cruise at 80%.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Ryan wasn't on the list of vets earlier which is weird. Let Phillips play!

Woo woo, still dressing early September line ups several games into PS. Setting up the actual roster to go into their rematch with Colorado nice and cold, ripe for yet another opening game loss.

There is no way they would send a veteran laden lineup to San Jose when they could stay home and get a full practice in.
The game vs the Oilers will be the full lineup minus any late battles that need to be worked out.

The Flames had a full lineup vs the Jets and will do the same against Edmonton. No need to send anyone important to San Jose. Give the AHLers some time.

Reiders sole goal should be to score just one goal. Get that boulder off his shoulder and earn that contract.

Dube has a lot to prove tonight. I think he is fighting Czarnik for that last spot. He doesn't need waivers to be sent down, so it seems he'll have to really stand out to earn an opening night spot.

Plus, this late game doesn’t interfere as much with family time.

As a huge Dube fan, I think if it's between 4th line in Calgary or 1st line in Stockton, I'd rather he's getting the icetime.
A Tkachuk holdout may have been his window of opportunity, now I think it's best to send him down, call him up if there's an injury.
That said, prove me wrong Dube, hatty tonight!

Pretty standard to see vets in preseason play 3-4 games. Peters mentioned only wanting Giordano to dress in three but Gio wanted four. Last preseason action is Saturday, that'll be four games for the majority of the vets, there really isn't any need for five.

I still prefer sending Czarnik down, keeping Dube and giving him solid minutes. Even playing with Ryan would be good for him.

I think it’s possible they both make the roster. Dube gets sent down and Czarnik waived and sent down when he clears.

I’m a fan of Jankowski and really want to see him have an impactful game. I’m looking for things like being available to the D for outlets and creating chances. I think he has a lot of great attributes as well as talent. He should have wingers who are aggressive and wanting to showcase themselves so I feel like they will bring a great game.
Janko has good vision and a good shot, let’s see him show that off!

A little assertiveness and overall physical involvement would be a welcome sight.

I like Jankowski too, I just no longer think center is the right position for him because
- in the defensive zone he is a bit too passive to cut off the cycle quickly. He's not awful but he's not the player we see on the penalty kill, a player who is aggressive and confident in his positioning. I don't think it's a coincidence that on the PK his role would more closely resemble a winger outside of faceoffs.
- in the neutral zone, he's a solid backward skater but his anticipation of reading passing lanes is unexceptional, making him better suited to be f1 or f2 than f3 as he can be more direct and aggressive rather than needing to outthink the opposition.
- in the offensive zone, I feel he's at his best away from the puck as a shooter or screener. Typically centers are at their best with the luck as they have additional physical freedom on the ice to create plays. His passing is also at its best in short spaces as he struggles to execute cross ice plays and centering attempts, which also makes him well suited to being f1 or f2, typically a winger role on the forecheck

I am so not techy. How can I catch the Flames stream on a smart tv? Go to the Flames website?
