Ex-Oilers coach Craig MacTavish fired by KHL club just 8 games into season

He hasn't coached a meaningful game since June 2006 and even then Lowe was letting him go when that season ended, until the run, which got him another 3 or 4 year contract.

Locomotive reportedly fired 18 coaches over the last 15 years. They are not patient with coaches at all. Still, under MacTavish they were second - last in the western conference and were giving up a lot of goals. The team apparently looked like a beer league team in their own zone which led management to believe that MacTavish is a clueless coach. Players also seemingly regressed, which didn't help matters either.
