Buffalo has a decent 1-5 on D

Dahlen, Ristolinen, Scandella, Miller, Bogosian. Admittedly I have no idea who their 6th would be.

More like

1 - Dahlin
2 - Montour
3 - Ristolainen
4 - Miller
5 - Bogosian
6 - Scandella

Honestly I suspect Scandella might be bought out this summer.

But, six actual NHL Defensemen is an improvement.

Upon further examination, all of Ristolainen, Montour, Miller, Bogosian, and Casey Nelson are RHD. Botterill has brought in Montour and Miller both in the last few months and I doubt there's much of a market for Bogosian, who's still serviceable on the third pairing

Although a Scandella buyout is a realistic option I think it's also very likely that Ristolainen is dealt very soon, probably to get Buffalo some needed help on the wings... after Skinner and Sam Reinhart, it gets real weak, with Kyle Okposo, Victor Olofsson, Conor Sheary, and Tage Thompson the currently-slotted middle-six options

Completely forgot about Montour. That is a solid blueline

Well sure I agree they are, but I dont know if it is sustainable if they lose all their depth

Don't @ me but I think Vegas' defense kinda sucks...

1 - Schmidt
2 - Theodore
3 - McNabb
4 - Holden?
5 - Merrill?
6 - Whitecloud??

I guess they could re-sign Engelland if they wanted or promote Nic Hague. But they've also traded Brannstrom and Brad Hunt and now Miller. And they have no cap room to improve.

Jake McCabe is an RFA, but I would slot him in Buffalo's lineup before Bogosian or Scandella.

I like your post, but I didn’t actually mean to thank it. My thumb slipped.

They’ve been able to win with a no name, low $ defense and are just built differently than for example the Flames.

To your point, the D looks to have gotten worse but they seem to know what they’re doing.

It’s the worst, because it is most easy to accidentally “thank” posts from my phone, whereas I seldom have that same problem from my computer.
