$2,500 fine and a pat on the back. Plus something for the flu.

Looked to me like a guy who doesn't know how to hit and was in between whether to hit him or not and he half assed it.

In all honesty, McDayquil was probably confused - he's not in his own defensive zone very often, he was probably disoriented and just trying to wind it up to get back into the safety of the neutral zone as quickly as possible.

At least they have a new interview question.

"What's it like and what does it mean to you to be hit in the head by Connor McDavid, it must be pretty special?"

Good ole Dreger: "There might or might not be a hearing." So hard being an insider when his only inside source got fired in 2015.

As far as McDavid goes, the reality is that he's going to get the superstar discount. At most, he gets a fine. Ovechkin got similar treatment back in the day. The league only took meaningful action after about the fifth time he ran someone into the boards from behind.

NHL Player Safety @NHLPlayerSafety
Edmonton’s Connor McDavid will have a hearing today for an Illegal Check to the Head on NY Islanders’ Nick Leddy.

Scott Oake version: “Have you washed your head since the hit? If not, can I touch it?”

Regardless of suspension, he needs to fight Martin next time they play or he’s a turtling coward.

Spector struck again last night. Homerism is alive and well in the Edmonton media.

Its pretty funny reading the oilers fans on FB about This. There more pissed that connor gets cheap Shotted "3-5" times a game and that he really doesnt deserve a suspension or a fine and leddy should have had his head up and many more dumb things

Oiler fans are the worst...

they bitched and moaned about tkachuck taking down mcdavid, even though mcdavid initiated it by tackling backlund - chucky went after mcdavid because of that...

mcdavid deliberately targets Leddy because he was upset, and they blame Leddy instead...or say it 'wasn't bad'...

wonder how they'd feel if McDavid was on the receiving end of Leddy's shoulder.

GD hypocrites.

Probably better to swing more to the side of punishing these hits then being too soft on them given the evidence that exists about how much damage it can do long-term.
Minimizing head shots is a mistake IMHO
