Edmonton isn't mediocre or good. They got noticed due to being a dumpster fire of epic proportions.
I see that some people think that somehow the team need to tip toe around the league in order to succeed, because the attention will somehow knock them off stride. If the Flames are legit they will have lots of attention and lots of teams gunning for them. It means they're doing something right.

Dear Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation,
Please take note of the jersey nearly every publication uses on a fairly regular basis.
That is the jersey you need to wear in the playoffs, and forever afterwards.
That is the jersey we win in.
Sincerely,
Fans that care about these things

Lets get one thing straight, Flames isn't "Canada's team", Flames is Flames' fans team. Rest of Canada? Get your filthy hands off our team and go cheer for your own team!

The Leafs certainly haven't been getting the hype in Toronto lately. The local media has been all over them for their recent slide. Playing with higher expectations in a hockey-crazy market has a price.

Is this a shot at me? I don't think I've ever complained about the Flames being noticed in eastern media.

The cynic in me thinks the Toronto Sun did the story as clickbait, knowing they'd draw the wrath of the enormous Leaf Nation.

So, same business model as the Calgary Sun then?

No way
If fellow Canadians want to hop on board then by all means. If Flames hockey lures them away from their (clearly) poor and misguided taste in any other NHL team then great.
Help more people see the light. Leafs, Oilers, Habs, Canucks... Just why. This team is so much cooler, classier, and exciting. Also nicer to look at thanks to the best jerseys (thirds) and logo in the league.

Nope. It's a joke highlighting the strange dynamic in general posts on this site.

What's with the snub to Tkachuk? He has way more points than any Leaf player from the 2016 draft.

Do people actually believe tgat other NHL teams don’t notice what other NHL teams are doing until they start getting press? Do the fly under the radar crowd actually believe that me might catch more teams under prepared if we don’t get press?

Only fans and media. And as fans and media assume that they are a natural extension of the team they are cheering for, the assumption is the same. Highlight shows out east are done before the western teams are done each night, and that’s assuming Toronto or Montreal didn’t play to allow a small window to have extended highlights of other teams in the first place.
People equate the talking heads on TV nationally, like HNIC, still to be the barometer of whether a topic or team is important to talk about; the “radar” if you will.
For players, maybe back in the day when they smoked on the bench and the newspaper couldn’t get the “late” Calgary game into the box score the next day, but now video is instantaneous of every player and shift if so desired by an opponent.
