Next year, the Edmonton Oilers are set to pay $27.3 million to Manning, Spooner, Lucic, Kassian, Sekera, Russell, and Koskinen.

They will pay $300,000 less than that for McDavid, Draisaitl, and RNH.

That’s actually hilarious that the oilers, who are already in cap hell, end up overpaying for their goalie. I think I heard about an hour ago on 960 that the oilers had $11 million in cap space available next year. Well now it’s $6.5 million.

Like I said above, GMs know better than to use Chia benchmarks. Plus, Rittich is an RFA. Koskinen was going to be a UFA. And already making $2.5.

This contract means Talbot is gone, and because everyone knows it Chia has absolutely nothing to bargain with at the deadline. If a team does trade for Talbot for goaltending depth they'll likely pay peanuts for him

That is probably going to be low. I think Treliving can get Rittich signed for less than Koskinen though.
