Great interview. Couple of nervous kids. Truly amazing we got one of the best players ever to play for us for so long.

I miss having Iggy on the team so much. I got some goosebumps when he was talking about the young talent on our team, specifically Gaudreau Monahan and Tkachuk. Saying how happy he was to follow the team and to see them do this well. All I could think of what Iggy being fed Johnny one-timers all night long. Would have been epic to see, even at his age.
I could listen to him talk all day. So well spoken, polite, and has a lot to say.

Lousy interview from Leslie. Other than coaching his kids, he never asked him what he is doing now, and why he lives in Boston. iggy wearing a Mets hat in Boston, is he trolling Sox fans?

We have a Lanny post-icon, can we make an Iggy post-icon? Maybe something with the number #12?

He's 100% getting his jersey retired, just a matter of when.

I have Jarome Iginla story....
Jarome, as you probably already know, played junior for the Kamloops Blazers. At the time, I was living in Kamloops working for a company that did custom embroidery, amongst other things.
This was during the era that Gretz was wearing the mock necks with his number embroidered on it, so all the junior players started doing it and they were having the embroidery done at our shop. So we had Blazers in and out all the time. Hirsch, Dominichelli, Nash, Tucker, Iginla, all those guys..
Most of kids were polite and humble, with a couple exceptions, Hirsch stands out, he always paid full pop because he was rude to the staff.
Most polite and humble was Jarome. He always offered to pay, always complemented the work and thanked the girls in the embroidery shop personally. There was a standing rule.. Jarome doesn't pay, ever.
He's a quality human, he's always been a quality human. The Flames were blessed to have him.
No player should ever wear #12 again for the Calgary Flames.

I think GOAT gets thrown around way too much on social media these days, but in this case it's 100% bang on. Truly is the Flames GOAT. Was great to watch that clip

Was funny to hear him about the almost-fight with Gio. Said he only really ever fought people he wasn't friends with, so he's glad it never happened between him and Gio.
I remember thinking how awesome of a fight it would have been. 2 players who give everything on the ice and both Flames' icons. I remember being pissed the refs broke it up. In hindsight the refs did the right thing and it was probably for the best.

Gio said the opposite "sometimes you fight buddies".
Iggy's last fight is still versus a Flame though.

Jagr was neat, but I'll always wish Iggy got another year.
In hindsight, it would have been tough to do much with GG around but it'd probably have been a bit more fun at least.
If thought it was pretty great that his family still sports Calgary - even in Boston. Good to see, as I'm sure I'm not alone feeling that tinge of jealousy that Jarome ever played elsewhere.

Here's the one from Flames.com
Good little jab from his son about being ejected from a game with Iggy coming back to clear his name!

Boston, what an odd/random place for Iggy to settle post career. I know he played there but it just seems out there.
Great interview! When Iggy played for the Avs vs the Yotes. I took his warm ups in and filmed him for a few minutes. I'm far, far from a die hard Flames fan in 2019, but the were my heart and should for many years. He was the biggest reason for it.
Enjoy retirement Jarome!
