They 'need' 3?
I don't disagree around the extra rest but when is this guy going to get some damn respect? Especially when he's having his best Norris-type season thus far, yet.

Found this is an article from last year:
Quote:
Under the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions through games of Saturday, Jan. 6 - the halfway point of the regular season - will guide the respective All-Star rosters.

Don't know when the cutoff is for this year.

Karlsson over Gio is obviously beyond ridiculous but I think the ASG is a joke so glad to see him stay home and get some rest.

How come each team has 8 skaters and two goalies? Wouldn't it make sense to have 9 skaters so you can roll 3 lines for 3 on 3?

Meh, suck no more Flames were picked. But the rest is more important IMO. Even OV was willing to take a game suspension to avoid the lamest hockey ever and risk injury. Would rather see Gio rested for the final push.

Last member of each team is supposed to be voted in by fans.

No Mitch Marner or Brayden Point either.
Im ok with Gio being left off, he can use it ti recharge for the stretch run.
Think Monahan probably desreved it as well though.

It looks they're doing a fan vote for the final spot on each team, so there will still be one more added.
Quote:
One remaining spot in each division will be filled through the 2019 NHL All-Star Last Men In presented by adidas fan vote. Players eligible for the Last Men In vote will be revealed on NBCSN during the first intermission of its telecast of the game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers, and on Sportsnet during the first intermission of its telecast of the game between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators.

Those are some hilariously dumb rosters. Perfect for a hilariously dumb game.

If they want to stick to a division format they should probably just expand the rosters a little more.
Go 8 forwards, 4 dmen, 2 goalies.
Enough for 4 lines. Players don't have to play as much and fans are happier since fewer snubs and less awkward to have to fit in the 1 per team rule. Tough to pick 11 all-stars per division, and have one representative from each of the 8 teams per division, without leaving some deserving guys out. Going to 14 per division would make it a lot easier.
I am excited to see the jersey's though - Sharks teal color scheme has some potential.

Pavelski? I think any of Tkachuk, Monahan or Lindholm should be there over him, as far as Flames players... ahh well, as many have said, the all-star game is dumb - it's a gimmick that kids like... let 'em have it.

Tampa only has 2 as well, so at most being the non-host we could have had 2, and though gio is deserving I'm sure he will welcome the extra rest.

Ya I thought the Captains picked the players but then I forgot they just go by division. They just never ever ever want a John Scott in the all star game again. This was Bettmans way of ensuring it will never happen again

Annoying Gio didn’t make it but I should have expected no respect for the Flames and host pandering.
The fan vote nominees will be announced soon. I wonder if Tkachuk will be there and if any non Flames fan would vote for him.

Good for Gaudreau I suppose, just another feather in his cap.
As for the omissions? Whatever, the Flames as a team will be better off for it. Which, I hope I speak for most when I say that's all I care about here.

Depending on how many players they name for the "last man in" vote, the Pacific will probably be between Monahan and Draisaitl.

So, Thornton, Couture, Hertl, or Kane? Or maybe all four, one for each team.
