It doesn't look viscous but he clearly contacts the head. Kind of a pleasant surprise a star player is getting a couple of games for a hit like this that could have been swept under the rug.

I like attempting to assess these suspensions because its as unbiased as im ever going to get.

Im in the same camp as everyone else.

I'm guessing the deciding factors were blindside and head contact (sorry cant see DOPS video on my phone) Guy was injured, and it looks pretty bad.

Where it starts to breakdown is comparing it to Backlund. It wasn't blindside on Backlund, but he was in a vulnerable position. NHL said the hit was clean, despite a concussion. I guess it just boils down to blindside vs player putting himself in a vulnerable position.

Where it really breaks down is the flying elbow to the head from Kunitz.

Yeah, there is no question that DOPS has frequently dropped the ball this season with the gross inconsistency in their meting-out of justice. But they got this one right.

Consistency is the key and it is severely lacking with all officials at every level of the NHL.
I don’t know what you are talking about? They have been very consistent on their rulings.

Flame player infraction, suspension

Flame player as victim, no suspension
