Mel, you'd be at home there. A lot of meaningless drive-bys take place in California.

Actually, California has been losing people to other states for more than 20 years, and has a negative domestic migration flow. These days everybody wants to live in Texas. It's the most popular destination for domestic migration in the U.S. Top source of immigrants to Texas? California.

Not sure about that. Not that it natters but the most recent census showed population growth in California and a long term trend that has never really changed from growth...

California's growth was driven by about 200,000 more births than deaths and a net migration of 21,000, meaning more people came to the state than left.......California has added 2.6 million people since the 2010 census.

I was more just thinking about California dreaming. Everybody still wants to go find their gold. Texas dreamin' doesn't have the same ring.

People can't afford to live in California. It's not that they dont want to live there, it's that they can't afford a home, the high taxes or the mental stress of a 2 hour commute.

About 130,000 more residents left California for other states last year than came here from them, as high costs left many residents without a college degree looking for an exit, according to a Bee review of the latest census estimates.
They most often went to cheaper, nearby states – and Texas. Since 2001, about 410,000 more people have left California for Texas than arrived from there. That’s roughly equivalent to the population of Oakland.

No doubt California is an attractive place. But it's increasingly unaffordable to average citizens, especially those who want to start families.

AB 2989: Electric scooters
Adults 18 or older will be allowed to ride electric scooters without a helmet. The new law also increases the speed limit for scooters from 25 to 35 mph. It would still be illegal to ride a motorized scooter on a sidewalk
|
You can now ride your scooter faster, and don't have to wear a helmet! I'm sure crashing at 50km/h with no helmet would have no negative repercussions at all.

So I can only assume all mopeds are sold with a sticker that says “scooters may cause dismemberment or death and assumably cancer” emblazoned across the front?
God that state is the most ridiculous, hypocritical one in the union.
Every one wants to live there my ***.

Many States allow you to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. Some allow no helmets and lane splitting (Nevada).

Cool fact about California population fluctuation. California has become unaffordable for most people. Those that have job mobility use it to set themselves up for the rest of their lives. We have lots of California ex-pats in our neck of the woods and they were all able to sell their homes there, move to AZ in a nicer, bigger home, and have half a million to a million dollars cash ahead of them. Do they miss California? Yes. But they have half a million to a million reasons to accept the move and enjoy their life. Same story happens all over the southern US. People are migrating from the expensive more liberal states to the cheaper more conservative states, which in turn is making those states more liberal and less affordable.

We rented Polaris Slingshots when we were in Vegas last time and it was an absolute blast driving to the Hoover Dam in an autocycle with the wind in your hair.
Imagine my disappointment to find that you're required to wear a helmet to operate one in Alberta. sadtrombone.mp3

If you're talking San Diego and LA.. sure. I agree.
Is it worth it to pay more than my mortgage in beautiful Gilbert AZ 3+ br for a 700sq/ft studio there? Hell no. We go to Encinitas, CA a week a year in the summer for a heat escape
I see so many Califugees in AZ lately.. it's great to see.
