Probably my favorite podcast. RA is a bit hard to listen too cause of his accent but I love to kind of hear the most candid stories of what’s really going on behind the scenes from former players. I know a lot on here probably don’t care for the content as it sometimes doesn’t paint players in the most classy of lights but hey I’d rather hear about what’s really going on then the filtered content everywhere else.

Yeah I love hearing the real side of hockey, not the 'safe' side that anywhere else lets you hear.

I'd be racking up infractions left right and centre on CP if I shared stories from the NHL players I know. Hell, even some of my stories from juniors wouldn't be looked upon that well here

Yeah I mean everyone likes to think these guys are some moral high ground because they are skilled athletes but that isn’t how it works. It’s quite often small town guys who only know hockey and come into millions of dollars young and do exactly what you’d expect a young millionaire to do who works as hard as they do.... they party twice as hard.

That's why I loved that a comment Reaves made a few months ago got so much attention.

"If you can't play hockey hungover you shouldn't be in the league."

Holy crap did that ever get blown out of proportion across the internet. But I loved it because he's 100% right

Well even in today’s episode they talked about how Hossa had a terrible first round of playoffs in Pitts. Went out and got “crippled” as they call it and wound up going on a tear immediately after to wind up with 24 points in 26 games all the way to the finals. Sometimes you just gotta let it out I guess.

Except fans pay money to see elite performances, not hung over performances. I'm willing to bet some of the most disappointing games and careers are rooted in too many hung over games.

Sure, no argument here, I've definitely felt ripped off after going to see the Flames play a terrible home game just to hear how late some of the boys were out the night before. Just saying it's the reality and a big part of hockey that lots of people don't want to hear about.

On that note I'd say off ice activities is the biggest thing that coaching and leadership has an effect on imo. It's why I hate teams naming guys under 25 as captain

Of course players are going to be partying a lot. You are giving young men multi-generational wealth, celebrity profile and an above first class lifestyle. Staying in 5 star hotels and flying around in private jets. They're going on multiple road trips per year. Most of them probably have girlfriends in every city.

They are not tucking themselves into bed at 9:00 sharp to make sure they play great the next day. Outside of being good at hockey these people are probably mostly degenerates that's why when you hear a person like Tkachuk that doesn't sound completely moronic it's impressive.

There's a huge difference between going to work hungover for the whole day starting at 7am and going for a morning skate at 10am followed by a nap...then a game at 8pm.

Especially when you're a physically in shape professional athlete.

The partying thing is overblown. Not that I'm saying the guys don't overdo it, I just imagine its pretty rare to have a night out that has serious effects on your game.

This podcast is filling such a void in NHL coverage it's ridiculous. It's nice to hear people talk candidly with some bro chat and chirps, it's like how I talk with my buddies. Their stories aren't even that bad they frequently allude to not being able to tell a lot of other stories. The sanitized sportsnet and tsn coverage was wearing thin for me, this medium let's players let a bit of their personalities out and makes the NHL a lot more interesting to me.

Anyone have a time count for the kiprusoff story. I’m having a little trouble finding it before the chucky interview

Edit: found it around 15:30
