I thought Coles call on the tying goal was classic Cole. Iyou can definitely tell he has lost a step but not as big of one as people believe he has. I think the nostalgia filter we all have being younger skews our opinions.

Bob Cole was great in his time, but he's way past his prime and needs to get out.
I didn't get a chance to watch the game live, so I had to watch replays. Watching any clips from CBC were useless because Cole barely reads out any players names, especially when the action is too fast for him to process.
So I while I was watching my PVR'ed copy, here is a few of the many things I noticed:
At one point 7 Flames players touched the puck before he read out a player name.
Hanafin was skating the puck up the ice on the powerplay, and he call him Tkachuk.
Bennett deflected a shot that Crawford saved, and he called it as tipped wide.
Called the Flames "the Canucks" in the 2nd period. Did he call a Canucks game recently?
Cole now calls things like "he takes it across the line" or "shoots the puck", frequently using "he" or "they" instead of names. With that poor level of detail, I might as well just put the TV on mute.
That's okay for the Flames, because I know the numbers of our players (although it's hard to read if I'm watching on my phone), but I don't know the opposition players as well, especially if it's not the puck carrier; for example, knowing who the other player is on a 2-on-1 against us.
I wish I could have sync'ed up the Fan960 feed, but it was PVR'ed.
It's time to hang up the mic.
Is it always cloudy in your world?

I rather have Bob Cole than David Randorf any day. Even if Bob miscalled the play or player name. There's the TV, you are watching it, why does the play-by-play guy have to be perfect? What you want is a guy like Bob who can describe the atmosphere because we are not there live.

Blown away by the people complaining about him. Any chance you get to watch him call a game ecspecially for your home team it’s a treat. Sure he’s not as detailed, myself personally I don’t need the game spoon fed to me so I prefer the extra atmosphere he’s able to bring to the game when he calls it.

He calls things that didn't happen as he tends ti anticipate the play but is incorrect in his anticipation. With my vision issues, I rely on the PBP to fill in a lot of the details that I can't see. Like tonight when he said a Chicago player picked up the puck and iced it when in fact he skated through the neutral zone and over the blueline than dumped it in.
Things like that are very common in his calls, he has a great rhythm to his call but the misinformation gets frustrating
I think if your going to complain about people making mistakes, the least you can do is proof read your post.

It would be good if they put someone sharper with him. They looked pretty clueless on the whole Keith major. They had no idea it was a major until the pp started. Then Cole mentioned a couple times that Keith was in the box and would be back in 5 minutes with no idea that he’d been ejected. I don’t understand how they could then completely miss that they played an extra minute and a half short handed. It would also be good if he could at least remember the goalies’ names and not call them the goalie all game. I like the sound of his voice and it’s nice to hear him once in a while. I’d go a little nuts watching him every week though.

That’s also on the producers for not being aware and letting him know.

It is what happens when you post in large communities like this, took me a long time to understand and accept that. We take for granted the very things that come easy for us, I'm as guilty of that as anyone

When Sakic scored that goal, everyone in Canada was thinking "surely, that's gotta be it" and then Bob Cole said it.
Btw all the miscues people are bringing up? Rick Ball does them every game too. Not quite as frequently, but they happen. He never gets #### on for it, and he's still awesome.
When all y'all are 85, you'll be lucky if you can remember your own name, much less be able to do the job you currently have at the level Bob Cole does his every week.
Show some respect, say thank you and be on your way.

Is he always accurate about each phase of a play? No.
Does he always express and convey the emotion and the significance of what you’ve seen? Especially when the occasion is big and meaningful? Is he the guy who can articulate what we as a nation feel (see SLC 2002 clip above) when collectively we’re lost for words?
He does all that, and he has done it my whole life, in Canada and abroad. Bob Cole is a national treasure.
