What bad luck to have injuries. That's almost unheard of for an NHL team.

What's unheard of is having 8 roster players injured less than a month into the season. If you could find me a team that has suffered injuries to key players this early id like to see it.

Tanev and Edler gone = top pairing
Pettersson gone for 5 games
Boeser 2 games
Beagle - top pker on the team
Sutter - 1 month (injured tonight)
Nilsson gone 2-3 weeks
Roussel started the season with a concussion

I think i speak for all Canuck fans when i say this, we want to be a bottom feeding team with EP winning the Calder.

it would be sick having both Hughes brothers join EP, Brock and Bo.

This season has already been a bit of a victory for the Canucks. EP has shown he can be a building block to build the team around, they have other young players showing potential (Boeser, Horvat) and they have already been winning more games than I thought they would, as I'm sure a lot of fans thought as well. All that with a lot of injuries. Even if they finish way out of it by the end of the year the one thing they showed their fans is that there is a glimmer of hope for the future. That's a win for them.

This one gets it, that's why I'll let him stay when I take over again.

Pettersson has a wicked release. A big league release, right out of the gates. On one hand, odd that his pre NHL stats are unspectacular, but then again he is at the age where every year of maturing makes a difference.

I generally respect a guy like Sam Bennett and know people develop at different rates, but damn...

I wish the Flames hired Green not Gulutzan.

Just kidding.

Kind of.

Anyone remember when Markstrom was on waivers. That would have been a nice pick-up

Maybe.

But the world still remembers 2011 and why the Canucks don't deserve success for a couple years yet. They've enjoyed a lot of good seasons in the past 20 years and the rebuild should not be just a brief thing. They need to toil in the basement to learn more humility.

Oilers need to stay below the playoff line for at least another decade, maybe three. At least until Mcdavid leaves since they never deserved him gracing their crap ass lottery ball team to begin with.

Unspectacular pre NHL stats? He beat Kent Nilsson's point record for a junior in the Swedish league. Also means he bested Peter Forsberg's totals.

Think you may be looking at a different Elias Pettersson for his pre-NHL stats.

He led the SHL in scoring as a 18/19 year old (Draft + 1) which is pretty much unheard of, and as the previous poster mentioned he broke pretty much all the SHL records for a guy that age.

Honestly I think the Canucks hit a home run here. Watched the first two games against the Flames, and a couple others and the guy is constantly dangerous on the ice.

I think in time he will be in the the discussion for top 5 players in the league...which sucks because we will have to deal with him in our division for years to come.
