Have a bad feeling about this one. Flames need to score first or I see it being a blowout.

Just posting this as I wasn't sure if it was confirmed that Smith was starting, but indeed it is.

@WesGilbertson
#Flames puck-stopping plan for two-game trip — Mike Smith faces Maple Leafs, David Rittich starts against Sabres.

Last time I saw them at ACC they won, so I can't even remember how many years ago that was.

Hmm.... You have a high scoring Leafs team facing a team that's starting Mike Smith and has TJ Brodie in it's top defensive pairing. What could go wrong?

They always play worse when they play in Toronto. Especially guys from Ontario. However today they will play better and the game will go to overtime. After that I don't know.
But Dube will score tonight. Go Flames Go!

Why does it already feel like a must win? Another loss wouldn't be good for the team's psyche.

Unfortunately for the Flames:
Andersen's stats vs Flames - 10 GP 7 W 0 L .913 SV%, 2.51 GA

Hoping for Sparks tonight.

Going back to his time with the Ducks he's been kryptonite to the Flames. I'm just glad he's out of the conference.

We need to just keep slowly building confidence. I’ll say a hard fought 4-3 win. Down 1-0 early, and 2-1 the boys fight back and earn the win. Smith plays ok. I think he needs to calm down a bit, he seemed to me to be flailing a lot in the Washington game, and got lucky a few times.

Tkachuk, Neal, Brodie and Dube.

Go Flames Go

Just hoping for a good showing. This is a crappy stretch of opponents and a goofy travel schedule (as has been pointed out elsewhere). If this team can keep it together tonight and tomorrow (win or lose), things will start to look up as the schedule evens out. A losing record in October isn't great, but recent history for the Flames has shown a playoff berth can still come from it. Nothing is doomed yet.

Seven Things to Watch for Tonight
  1. James Neal is two points away from a career 500.
  2. Sean Monahan is one point away from tying Sergei Makarov. This will make them share the 24th position in all time points as a Flame.
  3. Mark Giordano is two points from passing Eric Weinrichand becoming 111th in all time points as a defenceman in the NHL. One point will tie. Currently Gio is tied with Flame alum Dennis Wideman at 387 NHL points.
  4. Matthew Tkachuk is one goal from tying Dougie Hamilton and Micheal Ferland with 42 goals as a Calagry Flame. 42 goals is 70th as it stands now.
  5. Mark Giordano is one goal from tying Jyrki Lumme and Jerry Korab in goals as an NHL defencemen. Giordano is currently ranked 72nd of all time. To put that in perspective GIo has played 200 fewer games than both of those men.
  6. Sean Monahan tonight, will tie Curt Bennett and become 31st in all times games played as a Flame.
  7. Michael Frolik is one assists from a career 200.

Bold prediction: Smith will be the better goalie tonight. Not sure if that means a 3-2 win or a 7-5 win, but either way I'll take it. GFG!
