Back in the early 90s, the Flames had an interesting wrinkle on the power play. Every so often, just for a change-up, they would have Al MacInnis shoot a slapper deliberately wide, so it would bounce hard off the end boards towards the slot. When it worked, the man down low got a chance at an easy tap-in, and even when it didn't, it kept the opposition guessing. It was a pretty good percentage play.

The key is not to telegraph that the shot is going wide. Since Stone's shots can basically end up anywhere, he could probably manage that.

I haven't been impressed with the PP the last few games, especially after seeing it for the first few games in Boston. I hope to see a variety of ways to gain the zone to keep teams honest. Chip and chase is going to be difficult with some of the smaller forwards so it will be interesting to see how this evolves.

Didn’t see it mentioned but we sorely miss having screens and traffic in front for guys to get dirty and not be moved .

We have the players now to do this so there’s no excuse for wards system to not try this as well even though he’s got a much better system than Cameron and co.

Having a cannon shot is great but guys have to be patient and not Force shots and shoot directly into opposing teams shin pads every. Single . Time.

Back in the day we had good defenceman who doublepumped and then shot or took some steam off the shot for the slap pass.....ha ha .....some announcers favorite.

I know we will be better based on the new players we have and new systems .

Pretty sure this was also every single Robyn Regher point shot over his time in Calgary

Keep in mind that with the roster splits for the games since they got back, they haven't had their real PP units together in a game yet.
