Flames have played more games than anyone else and are currently in a four games in five nights stretch. I am not going to get angry over any result as long as the effort is there. Fortunately, after tonight there are two day breaks in between the last two games and then a break before the home opener.

Peters said last night in his post game presser they'll have the group widdled down to their opening night roster tomorrow. Or by next game.

I assume they are giving extra time off for the players who went to China.

The Great Edmonton Oilers franchise did though - they took Puljujarvi instead...

Let's compare... Matthew is 3 points away from 100 (97 in 144 games), Jesse has 28 in 93 games, I love our pick.

The story around here is that all of the vets are staying home and letting the kids fly up to CGY and back in a day. THis is the 3rd line and below forwards, third D pairing and below. Not much of a threat...

Peters was pretty sure he was going to have his NHL roster locked in for the final two pre-season games. Thats EDM and SJ IIRC. So we should see what will be the main roster come next game on the 27th.

It would make more sense to send the AHL team for the San Jose game as a one way ticket.

Time for the nhl vets to show some of what they're going to bring this season. Hard to crank it up to 9 or 10 on game one when you've been going at a 3 or 4 in preseason.
Looking at you Gaudreau and Neal!

I thought Lindholm was going to start the season on the top line? How are him, Monahan and Johnny gonna develop any chemistry if they keep playing opposite each other for the rest of the preseason?

I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt. The body recovers approximately one hour per day from time zone changes (yes, I know that they use SAD lights and special schedules to recover more quickly, but the evidence for that is weak), so they're still not back on local time.

Being one of the older players making the trip, I think Neal may take a little more time than most to recover from the travel. Gaudreau, on the other hand, may need to start to take his diet and fitness regimen a bit more seriously than he allegedly has in the past, or he may find that his recovery time is getting longer earlier in his career than it should.

They had instant chemistry in the one game they played together, so I'm not too concerned there. Thats a plug and play trio.

Says the guy with 0 games of NHL pre-season experience. What do you know about it? I don't understand why the performance of veteran players in pre-season games continues to concern people. Some vets look great in September while others do not, and most of the time it makes ABSOLUTELY no difference to how they play in Game #1.

I would guess the Flames have to bring the axe down on a large chunk of guys after this game. Does Stockton camp even have enough guys to field a roster for their own preseason games right now?
